Florida BON/What I need to know

Hi Everyone, thinking about doing the NCLEX in Florida. What do I need to know about the Florida BON. I am from New York. I like it here and may move here in the near future. Thank You.

You contact the FL BoN for licensing by examination. Complete the application, pay fees and submit your educational credentials

You need to let them know that you have previously attempted the NCLEX (including dates) for NYBoN. Know that if you fail the NCLEX 3x in FL you are mandated to take a BoN approved refresher course before you can sit for the NCLEX a fourth time. You out of state attempts count in the first 3. So if you took the NCLEX 4 times for NY and failed you would need to pay for and successfully complete the clinical & classroom refresher course before eligible to take the NCLEX again for FL BoN.

Also investigate the job prospects and the pay rates in FL. Both tend to be rather poor.

What no financial aid? I paid nursing school from my pocket and I am still broke because of that.

No I don't live in Florida. There is no financial aid for remediation courses just like there is no financial aid for NCLEX prep classes, BoN licensing fees or NCLEX registration fees.

If you are in debt you may want to reconsider Florida as nurse wages ( especially if no BSN ) are some of the lowest in the nations. Members have reported that starting wages under $20/hr some even $16-18/hr for an inexperienced RN.

Would you happen to know if I could take the nclex pn in NY if i failed 3x in florida? Or i will not be able to take in NY i have to do the refresher course no matter what state? Plus I am moving now to PA so i doubt i will be able to take anything in Florida now? i'm so confused i don't know what to do, or just give up, i can't find anything online on information about this. Please help if you know anything thank you!
