First week back! How did yours go?

Published

I had Microbiology, AP II, college succes skills, and a weekend CPR class this week, everything went great. I especially liked the CPR for health providers class, it was very cool. I switched Micro teachers after the first class because the first prof was absolutely insane:chuckle :chuckle . How are your classes going?

O M G

It was every bit as bad as I thought it would be.

I have a BS but somehow managed to do so without taking psych or soc. So, I have to sit in these freshman-level classes with a bunch of 18-23 yr-olds. OK, I can deal. What I didn't anticipate is what a moron the professor would be. Really impressed with himself. This is at a regional campus of a large state university.

I can put up with anything one night a week for one semester, I guess, and I can feed him back the bullsh*t he hands out and get a decent grade, but I wish I could skip the bullsh*t classes and get to the good stuff!

I already feel like I have no life from school, so I can only imagine what it will be like when I move 35 minutes away from home to live for the first time...away from everyone and everything I know practically. I'm really going to miss my cat:(

(and my boyfriend of 3 years, lol, but I really will miss Minnie, my cat)

Hey, my cat's name is Minnie! She's a black/gray tiger.

Let's see

A&P2--Lecture seems managable, lab will require most of my study time

Nutrition--not bad, though I am surprised at how many don't "get" calorie/gram conversions

Sociology--extrememly easy, I'm allowed to use my notes for quizzes and exams

Growth and Development (Adult)--will require some time, but is interesting

Today was my first day back.

Introductory Chemistry - 30 yr old male teacher that seemed very nervous but nice. I think the material will be challenging for me.

Intermediate/College Algebra (8 wk fast tracks) - I had the teacher last semester & LOVE her! She used to teach GED classes and explains things well although by glancing through the book, I have a lot to learn.

National & State Gov't - it's 100% online & the teacher states in her syllabus "no use of notes during exams". Yeah right! LOL. She does grade on a curve so that's good.

If I can get though Chemistry I'll be happy :)

Last night was my first A & P II class (lab). After going over the syllabus, we got in groups of three and had to skin a cat! The smell was horrible. The cat was huge...probably 20 lbs. I couldn't believe we did this on day 1. After we skinned our cat, we had to cut open the abdomen, crack the ribs, and examine the innards. There was a group that had a pregnant cat. Finally, we had to rinse the skin, wrap it back around the cat (to keep moist) and put our assigned cats back in their double wrapped bags to be used for the entire semester. I had the same teacher last sem. for A & P I, and we never dissected a thing! Interstesting huh?! I think I'm gonna go by some scrubs to wear to lab so my clothes don't get ruined!

Wow! We never got to do anything like that in my AP classes.
