First interview since being reinstated!

Nurses Recovery

Published

I'm in need of pointers and how I should present myself in this interview tomorrow! It's a private practice so I'll be meeting with the doctor who will be the one who decides. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's get hard and no matter what all of us may say, you're going to feel down until you heal on your own. However, like I said my last post it might not come over night but all you need is one person to say yes. After your restrictions are lifted, it's fair game. Stick in there. Work a great program and once one door opens, others will follow.

I have been clean and sober since December 2004 and have a clean license BUT the history of discipline will show forever. (My state has no alternative to discipline program). I haven't had a full time nursing job since 2010.

Sorry to be a "debbie-downer" but that is my story. :(

Cat mom thank you for your real ness, it really does take a bit of time. Part of the program is just allowing it to happen when and how its meant to without my control. I guess it's just hard knowing I am capable of so much more than being a stay at home mom right now! I have to let go and let god at this point.

HunnieBadger-

You will be fine, trust me.

Sometimes I think I should take my girlfriend's advice and not come to this forum in Allnurses because my state is SO punitive compared to others. It does get to me that in almost any other state, had I done the exact same things I did, my license would be absolutely clean of any sign of discipline.

The job market here is not good and a bad license history is just another reason for employers to weed applicants out.

I am doing a low paid office job now and am glad to have any job after I was out of work for well over a year at one point.

Good luck to you!

I just realized my post didn't post lol. I was offered the job at my last interview! Im scheduled to start in the next few weeks, once I get all the stuff for the BoN completed. My manager was very kind and accepting of things, and the board finally agreed with this job! Im so excited to be a nurse again!

Congrats Hunnie. What other jobs did you apply for that the BON turned down?

Congrats...so happy for you.... Once your done with your program you can go for your dream job :)

Private practice offices, they didnt agree with the hours and the MD not being there all the time. Even though there was another RN and NO narcs in office. But its their rules, I played wrong and now its time to get right! Also another job doing conscious sedations, apparently you can't even be near a drug? Either way i have one and I'm just checking another box! If you would like info on the dialysis place pm me GA :)

Thanks Michelle :) I'm working on my advanced degree now and hope to be ready when this is all over with!
