  1. Im so sorry your going through a similar situation. My story is much like yours. My past employer and coworkers though have given me wonderful reviews. My problem is my narc restriction. I don't think your past employers can tell them what really happened just the dates you worked there and your job performance, but I'm just assuming so I really don't know. We have to all keep moving forward and remember this to shall pass. Sometimes it's easier said though. I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.
  2. I feel the exact same way. My daughter is only 7 but she asks me all the time, Mommy when are you going to go back to work. I'm trying to hold my head high and stay positive but it's so hard. I've ran out of places to apply. Interviewed with dialysis and just found out today they hired someone with experience. I have to keep moving forward but the guilt of my past seems like it's always there, right in front of me. I'm sorry I wish I had some words of encouragement for you. Just know your not alone. Things have to turn around for the both of us we just have to keep trying. No matter how hard that is at times. Wishing you all the best!
  3. Can I private message you? If so I'll do it later tonight if that's ok?.
  4. Delaware wouldn't approve any from KY since that's where you now reside? I know from experience my home state has always made it, what seems to me, harder on me. Not saying that all states BON is any easier so don't get me wrong there. Could you possible speak with a lawyer? When I went in front of the board had had a lawyer represent me. I would think you could still apply for a new grad position. Are you going to have restrictions when you get your license reinstated?
  5. Oh no. I'm so sorry. Don't give up! My home state is a compact state and the state I'm currently living in isn't but to be honest I'm still confused as to what that even means. With the refresher course you have to do clinicals too?
  6. Don't give up..it has been a very difficult road. The most difficult for me now is finding a job. I've been looking for months. Actually had a job but my home state wouldn't approve it. I don't have to pay drug screens for both states, just the state I live in now. (Which is cheaper). I would speak to someone in your home state if you decide to try to get licensed in the state your currently living. I do know you'll need a license in the state your living. I didn't know this until after I went in front of the board where I lived before. Guess I was just dumb and thought well I got my license reinstated so I can practice anywhere. I have invested so much time and countless $$ so I can't just give up on nursing. I just keep telling myself everything will work out in Gods time not mine. Good luck.
  7. I too moved to a different state. A little of my story, I surrendered my license in my home state, stayed there about a year. Well we eventually had to relocate so my husband could get another job, so we moved to another state. I worked on myself and my sobriety then petitioned last year for my license to be reinstated in my home state. I'm now enrolled in 2 programs, one with my home state and the other with the state I live in now. It's not been an easy road by any means but it's do able. I wish you the best of luck.

  12. Sally, are there programs out there where you can study MDS assessments? I'm also looking for a job that is restriction friendly. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
  13. Oh my goodness New Grad. I'm so sry to hear your past is still haunting you. It's such a shame it has to be this way ESP since you've been clean for 14 yrs. First off, congrats on your recovery. You've overcame the biggest hurdle so far. I know that dialysis centers are restriction friendly so you may want to try there. Good luck on your job search. :~) Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
