Kentucky Board KARE
Love this. I was lucky enough to get hired somewhere that was extremely open to care nurses. Being able to openly and completely speak to someone who 100% got it was invaluable. ***ing about laying out another $70 to prove i was still clean when i had $50 left in my account. You will find support and it does get better but we have to do our part too.

Is psychiatric nursing a dying profession?
I work in an inpatient free standing psych facility. We are alarmingly short staffed and many days have more patients then we can realistically care for. Many of the patients we see Havre multifaceted issues and the majority of children are wards of the state. The need is most definitely there but changing. Stays can be as sorry as 3 days while I've also seen over 90. I believe one of the major hurtles is what insurances are willing to pay.

Recovery program 3 years in one state, 5 years in another
I was in a new state when i began the monitoring program for the state i lost my license in. I was in monitoring for 2 years when i was able to activate my licence in my new state. I had completed all of my requirements for the original state (except drug screens) including a year of individual and domestic violence counseling. I was forced to start over with a new agreement 5 years in length. When its all said and done i will have been in monitoring for 7 years with all neg. Drug screens. Its frustrating and expensive but if there is any chance of you going back figure it out now.

Online MSN
I obtained my bsn from WilmU. It is frustrating to me they do not offer any incentives for alumni to continue their education there like many other schools.

Universal Health Services
I work at a different UHS facility. I felt my salary was comparable to other facilities in the area. As oceanblue said i have. Noticed that they tend to be short staffed. I work on a gero unit and i know my coworkers make all the difference. They are so short staffed i believe they sometimes keep nurses they shouldn't.

Ohio Board, Kentucky Board
Consider yourself very lucky with what they gave you. I was almost done with monitoring in another state where i had NO restrictions. KBN gave me a 4 year contract that only counts if I'm working and includes a 2 year controlled substance restriction as well as supervisor restrictions

Aspen University MSN
Aspens price is great but I've seen such mixed reviews. Has anyone actually taken classes that can give feedback?

Online MSN
I am struggling with the decision to persue my MSN in Education right now. I know I need an online program and preferably something that is reasonably priced. I live In Kentucky but haven't seen any decent in state options. I think I have it narrowed down between Wilmington University and Aspen. I am familiar with Wilmington and like their program but the price is holding me back. I've heard tons of mixed reviews on Aspens program and am slightly concerned over what I've seen to be an expected 20 to 40 hour/ week commitment per class with multiple papers due each week. Anyone have a program they love or experience with either of these they can share?

What type of job can I Look for now? New in HPMP
I had a months experience when my license got suspended. I was out of nursing for several years before deciding to come back to it. No one would hire me without a diploma and i applied a lot of places-hundreds. Had lotsb of phone and in person interviews but the restrictions were a problem for most. I even had a job offer recinded. And i was up front. Ultimately i found a job in av psych hospital that i love. I work with an extremely supportive staff who dont judge me. This might be a good area to explore.

Night Shift & Child care
He doesn't work for medical reasons, which is why our kids are in daycare now. They both weigh more then he is able to lift not to mention if he has a bad day where he can't even get out of bed then we are in serious trouble. He will be fine with them in the evening while I am working since they should be sleeping. I am more concerned with day while I am trying to sleep. Which is why I asked others who have been in this position. He just had another major surgery this month and won't be cleared for at least 6 months. When that happens then our schedule will likely change but I am not going to expect something from him that he is unlikely to be able to do and will most certainly put his recovery in jeopardy after 5 years of multiple surgeries.

Night Shift & Child care
So I am going back to nursing on my first night shift job in 2 weeks. My husband has medical issues and hasn't worked for several years. We have two kids 2&3 who are currently in daycare full time. I am looking for advice from anyone who does/has worked night shift with small children and what your routine looks like. I feel incredibly unprepared and am not sure where to start.

Does is ever end?
The only "experience" I had was as a patient safety attendant where I sat with individuals experiencing behavioral issues/withdrawl. I had applied to this place several times with no call back but recently finished my BSN, which seems to have kicked me over the edge and people are finally interested in me!

Thank you so much for your reply CryssyD. I have heard Ohio is one of the worst states as far as recovery goes. If you don't mind sharing some more personal information please PM. - Does is ever end?
