I wanted to start this thread again. I've seen so many posts about first days and have lived vicariously through those posts. Now, with that first day steadily approaching, I'd like to start my own thread. I start school on the 21st of August, and I thought that I'd go ahead and start a thread so that it will be good and ready for that first day post. As of now, I have pretty much everything done except I have to have my second PPD read on Monday. I welcome comments from everyone. After all, we are all in this together!
I have orientation on August 22 and start classes August 26! I am not sure how long our clinicals will be but we will find out at orientation. I believe we start in a LTC facility in October! I have all of my medical supplies, uniform, lab coat, and shoes already but still need to buy my books and pay for our HESI materials! I am so excited and nervous to start! Good luck everyone!

Getting nervous and anxious!! Had orientation 5/22
I have orientation the Saturday of the first week of school. Our clinicals start on the following Friday and have 8 hour shifts. The first semester clinical are local, but frim tgen
Trying to budget these extra expenses in has been very difficult on an already very thin budget
I feel you! Because of medical issues and doing summer courses, I haven't had a job over the summer, which means a thin budget. I live a hour away from my program and I am constantly having to dive there to do things to get ready for school. That coupled along with textbooks and equipment is crazy. Luckily, my loans/financial aid will cover most of it. Crazy!!!

I start Sept. 3rd. I'm so nervous. It is also the first day that my youngest starts kindergarten, my middle child starts 3rd grade and my oldest begins 5th grade. I've been a stay at home mom for 10 years. Been chipping away at my pre-req's and don't want to go back to the business world where my first degree was in. There has always been this voice in my head telling me that I have to be a nurse and I am so excited and nervous at the same time. One day at a time, right?
Just got my first email from one of my teachers, and it basically said that we will need to have about 5 chapters read before the start of classes, and that we should expect the same for our other class. The madness begins!
You are lucky! I had 13 Chapters plus half of our dosage calc book to read for the first day. Break down the readings. Spread them out across the days you have left until school starts. Don't forget to make sure you enjoy the free time you have left!!

It's been so nice to read other's insight on prepping for the first semester of class. My semester starts August 19th. We have 8 hour clinical one day a week, 2 lecture days and a lab. My school has had a boat-load of things to upload to CB/CP (which is sounds like most everyone has). I started early and only have a physical left to upload! :) We had orientation the first week of June and that was the only one for us.
I've heard a lot of people say they wouldn't be drawing blood/giving catheters in class. I'm shocked, but I'm pretty sure my program does this. I guess I'll get the details August 19th. Good luck everyone!!
