I agree with Elektrisk's study plan. This is EXACTLY what I do. It's helped me so much in A&P to reteach the information back to someone. I am just starting in fall, so I guess we will see how these study habits go towards the nursing program! I also wouldn't worry about an NCLEX book yet, but that's just me.

I waited till I was midway through my A&P 2 class and already had chemistry, College Algebra and some Micro under my belt. Honestly, if it wasn't for A&P and Chemistry I would not have scored an 82. Get a book from ATI's site and study, study, study. As far as I am aware your score ALWAYS matters. It'll be one of the things that says you are a better fit for the program than someone else. However, the program I am in is very competitive, so maybe yours isn't as competitive?

ADN is not necessary to get a BSN. However, you may want to consider ADN first. I don't know about your area, but many hospitals around me will pay for employees to go back to school (with employment contracts and whatnot - nothing is free). If you can save that money, work and slowly finish your BSN, that's not a bad move. I also have heard things about phasing out LPNs and 2 year nursing programs. I'm not sure if it's legitimate information, but it's the rumor.

If you are looking for job security, I guess nursing would be better. If it's mostly about job security, you may want to search for other options though. Like a lot of people have said, having a passion for the job (in nursing) is definitely going to make what you go through worth it. It's not bad to have a back up plan. Good luck in whatever you do! I hope you get to do what you WANT and not just what you think is best for the future.

College. I take a lot of notes and go through wide ruled too quickly.

It's been so nice to read other's insight on prepping for the first semester of class. My semester starts August 19th. We have 8 hour clinical one day a week, 2 lecture days and a lab. My school has had a boat-load of things to upload to CB/CP (which is sounds like most everyone has). I started early and only have a physical left to upload! :) We had orientation the first week of June and that was the only one for us. I've heard a lot of people say they wouldn't be drawing blood/giving catheters in class. I'm shocked, but I'm pretty sure my program does this. I guess I'll get the details August 19th.
