My first week of nursing school this week and so far it's been great. The teachers seem really excited and proud of not only the class they have but also their program. They boast about their pass rate almost every lecture. They are seem very helpful in all the settings. I even got a study group together the first day of class and so far we've studied every day this week. This is the first time I have felt like I've accomplished and learned something in a study group.
I've gotten my books and lectures organized so I know what I'm doing day to day and I'm still very excited and nervous about being in school. So far so good though..I have no complaints......................................................yet.:)
How was your first day/week/month/year of Nursing School!!!!!!?
Do yourself a favor and buy several different colored pens. Write your assignments in one color, tests in another, class days in another, clinincals in another and so on. That helped me be organized because I could look at the day on the calendar and know by the color of the ink what I had to do that day. Good luck on beginning school! I got my ASN three years ago and am now going back for my BSN but I am so glad that I made it through those first two years! Tough!!!!!!! Hopefully this won't be as stressful as that was! Again, good luck to all you new students!

Well my second week of school went well. I passed my skills check off quiz on ROM and I passed my check off on ROM, Bed baths and Bed making. We have our med/dose exam on monday and our Unit exam on Wed. Boy am I stressed out. My study group has been going strong. After Wed of next week we get to take a little break. We've decided to go out and celebrate passing our first exam on Sept 4. How was everyone elses's first/second week, month of school?
i started my first sem. of nursing on Wednesday. I bought 4 of my textbooks that day, and my arms and back hurt the next morning because I stupidly bought them during the mid-day and had to carry them around the whole afternoon (i take the bus home). Next week i think we bathe each other in skills lab, hehe im nervous. But if its for nursing then i'll do it.
I think the week after that, we brush each other's teeth. Sounds like fun, huh? :chuckle Lol. I'm still excited about classes, even though I'm scared about the workload.
Anyway, I learned that I have to buy a $400 book-set for class! Thats insane! It's a preparation thingy for the NCLEX that I will use throughout the whole 5 semesters of Nursing. That brought my mood down a little. None of us knew it was required until the instructor told us that day. :angryfire
Oh well. I'm stressed out, but at last I have Thurs-Sun. free this semester to spend all my time studying haha. My first day wasn't so bad, its pretty different to be in the same classes with the same students all semester. Anyway.. good luck to all of you who already started or are starting this semester!

I feel your back pain! My fundamentals book alone is enough to kill me. My hubby says I'm a wimp. I just went out today and spent $40 on a backpack with wheels. It will be SO worth it, and $40 is much cheaper than chiropractor visits.
My first 2 weeks were fine...a bit overwhelming and ALOT different than "regular" classes. Last week I bathed my classmate, brushed her teeth, made a bed with and w/o her in it..etc. It was actually pretty fun! I was a little freaked out about the "bed bath"...but it turned out to be a great ice breaker, and we all really got to know each other that day! We've had one quiz, have a test tomorrow, another test Wednesday on dosage calc, plus a quiz.
Alot of reading...but worth it! We also got our nurse packs this week, which was kind of exciting!
Starts all over again in the morning!
Good luck to all!

I have heard that nursing texts are usually out of date within 5-6 years so keeping them for reference would probably not do any good. Just FYI
