So I was finally accepted into a nursing program... yay me right ? Classes started last week for me and I just want to cry... again. I've worked so hard to get here but I'm just so ready to give up. I didn't even make it to 1 exam yet. Everything just seems so overwhelming. I know this is what I signed up for but I feel out of balance. I cant find a rhythm. It's just not flowing for me right now. The fundamentals book we are reading from just seems so discouraging. On top of that I have to practice my math, and keep up with my medical terminology. I feel so lost right now because I'm reading literally everything but it won't stick. I'm applying myself but idk what else to do. I just needed to vent a little.

Do your professors post their power points before class? If so, print the power points and then do the readings with them in front of you and supplement the info in the powerpoint with your reading. Don't read the entire chapter!!! As for root words/medical terminology - is there a breakdown of what you need to know for each week? Make notecards with 20 or so definitions on each one and just flip through them quickly throughout the day.
Hi, Emmjayy. I thought of your PowerPoint idea but I was too afraid of skipping over something that I was trying to read the entire chapters. As for the terminology, I have to know 3 chapters by next week and 6 by 10/15. I just purchased some flash cards to get the ball rolling on that. Thanks for responding.

Just calm down, it's perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed in nursing school, especially when you first start. Everything is so different than past classes that its going to take a while to get used to and find your own rhythm. As for studying, emmjayy had good suggestions, don't try to read every word of every chapter just focus on the main points, what your professor lectures on and the chapter outline the is at the beginning of every chapter.
Thanks VerticalHorizon. I will keep those things in mind and I will def do what Emmjayy said.
