You worked hard to get here! Now you are here! When working on a med-surg floor, you will have many oppotunities to experience different medical conditions. I started on a med-surg floor right after graduation. Not trying to give you advice, but listen to your fellow RNs (and LPNs) that you feel you can trust (you will intuitively find the ones that you can), pay close attention to the doc's when they speak to their patients on rounds, listen as they speak with nurses about the patient's condition. AND never be afraid to ask questons! Ask the nurses, ask the docs. Don't be afraid to ask docs (not putting nurses down, but many new nurses are afraid to approach docs) any questions. Most of them are happy to puff up their egos and educate you. And unlike nursing school, experience will guide you. If you have any questions that you feel aren't being addressed where you work, research! Best of luck!:redbeathe

Well done! You must be very proud of yourself!
Can you post on here how you got the job to help other nurses who are still looking for work? Any hints or tips you can give them?
On med/surg, get your skates on! It has a high patient turnover, usually very ill and highly dependent. Get your time management under control early, if unsure re anything ALWAYS ask lots of questions, and know your patient's conditions.
Good luck for the future!
ADD: Also get to know your medications early too - ask re any of them or look them up if unsure how to reconstitute them!
