Filipino nurse registration in Texas

Published

Hi, im a newbie here, and ive been reading alot of information on how to apply for licensure in us. Texas is my preferred state to register. It says in their website that one of the requirements is CES Full education course by course report. When i log in to cgfns website, there is only 2 options, one is CES Professional report and the other is CES Academic report. Which one should i apply? Bdw, im an rn from phils. I Have other questions with the finherprinting but i need to get through first with cgfns. i've also read that to complete CES, I have to mail my high school diploma to cgfns. Thank you.

Do i need to photocopy and notarize, or authenticate my hs diploma before i send it to cgfns?

once you pass your application to texas, you can email them and ask for a temporary SSN which you will use in the fingerprinting.

The temporary SSN is used for fingerprints for non US Students.

Are you saying you used it for getting a license in Texas?

I checked the Texas board of nursing and couldn't verify your a RN in Texas....

Another question. Say that i passed all the requirements, but no ssn yet. Can i work in texas as a nurse and provide it asap when i have it?

Do you have a visa to get to USA?

Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.

No. They will not issue a license until you have a valid SSN. No license can't work as a nurse in TX. No SSN cannot legally work in the US. You cannot work or be issued a SSN until you have permanent residency status or a valid work visa issued by USCIS. Current retrogression for EB3 visa for those born in the Philippines is approximately a 10 year wait. Only an employer can sponsor for an EB3, very few are willing to go through time & expense to sponsor for an EB3 and wait a decade for a candidate to start work

I am now confused between pinayusa and caren. It says in the requirement that ssn is not required in texas. Here's a summary of reqts:

NCLEX license by exam required

CGFNS Certificate required, or CES Endorsement acceptable

SSN not required

Work affidavit must be submitted showing all periods of employment for last ten years

Must request Fingerprint Card Packet (two FBI cards) Passport photos

Educational Requirements: Affidavit of Graduation form Verification of Licensure form (from all countries, territories, states where have held license)

Foreign applicant must demonstrate working in nursing for period of two years at anytime after graduation from nursing program.

Do you have a visa to get to USA?

I do not have a visa. My idea was, to pass all the reqts including nclex. Then, there are agencies here in the phils hiring usrn, so with their help i will be able to work in texas. With regards to ssn, i read some infos that foreign candidates are allowed for limited permit to work until they will be able to provide a ssn.

With all the issues about ssn, what are the states that do not require ssn? I have relatives in california but im not able to regiater there bec ssn is required and there have been issues about their educational requirements. So now im choosing texas because somehow, the climate is not so cold, and its not that so far from CA

You still can't work until you get a work visa and SSN. Apply to the state where you wish to live and work. Otherwise you are wasting money

Thanks justbeachynurse.. i will inquire more about work visa and ssn. Glad that i havent register to cgfns yet.

No license no job. No job no visa. No visa no SSN. It's a circle. Some obtain licenses from US states but work in call centers overseas

You do realise that currently the wait for EB3 (immigrant visa that usually RN's come under) is over 8 years for someone born in the Philippines So you can apply to Texas as per Carendawn's instruction because you do not need a US SSN to register with Texas but probably not issue license without one which once in the US you can get

Omg, i am more enlightened by now.. .thanks to all your advice and help.. hmm i should search more on states that do not require ssn to issue a license..
