should i need to take up another how many years of nursing in canada?
what should i do? kindly help me please!! thanks a lot.
wow that was fast, thank's. I am thankful I signed up here coz I don't know where and who to ask, coz everythings puzzling me.
May I ask what LMO means? And do you mean I could start to settle these things before I take the exam on Feb and how about my family's status? Do employers here offer migrant status for the whole family?
Another question, are there study groups here in BC for the CRNE exam. Thank you so much I hope you won't get tired of answering these type of questions. God speed.

LMO is labour market opinion and all employers employing foreign people have in most cases to provide one. This is a way of proving they have tried to get the job filled by local people. You can bring your family with you, include them on your application but if your wife wishes to work she needs to submit her own application with your and she will get a open one based on yours. Some provinces require children to have a student visa some don't you will need to find that out from the schools. I do not know about study groups in BC as I am in a totally different province
Hi everyone! This is my first time to post in this website though I have been reading some threads for quite some time now. I find this topic really helpful because I'm a nurse here in the Philippines also planning to apply in British Columbia. I am in the process of completing the requirements in my application and will be passing it most probably by the last week of February 2009. I know that after passing all the requirements, I have to wait weeks or even months for me to know if I am eligible to write for the CRNE. I just graduated last October 2008 as a second courser and obviously I don't have any work experience yet using my Nursing degree. I will apply to different hospitals here in the Philippines by February 2009 so that I can be productive while waiting for their confirmation of eligibility. Now my question is, do employers in BC like Northern Health or Fraser Health require a minimum number of hours of work experience in order for them to consider hiring you? If after being eligible to write for CRNE, can the employer from Canada (e.g. Northern Health) help me get through the Canadian Embassy here in the Philippines to process a Temporary Work Permit? What are my other options to enter Canada if I will be taking the CRNE (does it mean if a apply as a tourist, I will state in my application that the reason I'll be going to Canada is to take CRNE? Will I be approved with a tourist visa?) If I will be issued with a TWP, how early can I go to Canada for my CRNE? Will the employer provide the hospital where I can get the 250 hours?
After reading the 20 pages in this thread, I'm still confused with this part of the processing, my apologies if it has been answered already to the previous posts. I would really want to know everything first before taking the first step because I'm doing this on my own. I believe we don't need an agency to go through this. Just reading and asking someone in this forum will be of great help. So can someone shed some light to the path that I'm going to take? I hope you can help me with my queries. Thank you!
If you get the OK to sit the CRNE then there is nothing stopping you from finding a employer and coming over on a TWP and working for a bit before sitting CRNE. I think the hospitals will assist in the 250 hours but you will not, if sat CRNE and passed, be issued a license until the hospital has confirmed you have done the hours (that is my understanding on how it works)

hi guys!
this is my first time to post in this thread..
anyways, Im a RN in the Philippines but currently here in Ontario Canada as a perminent resident. I have submitted my requirements to CNO for my assessment and waiting still for the results (12 weeks usually). The dilemma is, I want to work here as a care provider not necessarily a nurse on the 12 weeks span that Im waiting for my assessment. Is that possible? what kind of jobs should i apply to?
another question: whats the possibility of having a good assessment at CNO? I am hesitant to go back to school if i didnt meet their standards..ohh..who has the same experience as me? pls help..thanks
Hi pickles, I don't know much about CNO coz I am here in BC. But I do know someone who's also a PR there. Unfortunately she isn't allowed to take the nursing exam in ontario. CNO says that they don't consider Philippine nursing. The equivalent of our education in the Philippines is only for LPN, that's why my friend will be taking this January the LPN exam.
I hope this info could help you. God Bless.

Employers know all about work permits and I haven't heard of any that will be a problem. Unless you are going the PR route which will take years the only way to work in Canada is Temp work permit (TWP) and I promise you employers are familiar with them. Best thing to do is contact hospitals and discuss working for them, let them know you have already got eligibility to sit CRNE. They will need to provide you with a LMO which you submit along with your application to your local Canadian embassy and they will get the paperwork started. You will need a medical and they will tell you when you need to sort that out. Eventually you will get a letter stating you meet work permit requirement and to show letter to immigration once you arrive in Canada and they will provide you with your temp work permit.
On average looking at approx 6 months ish for processing and getting medicals done
