filipino to migrate in Canada.... what to do to become a RN?

i am new to this forum. i am a r.n. in philippines and will migrate in canada (vancouver). i haven't actually practiced my profession as a nurse in hospital setting instead as a company nurse.

actually i don't know have an idea :idea: as to what to do to become a r.n. in canada.

should i need to take up another how many years of nursing in canada?

what should i do? kindly help me please!! thanks a lot.

Alberta couldn't care less if you've passed the NCLEX or not. You can't practice in any capacity in Canada unless you've passed the Canadian exam, LPN or RN. If you're hoping to work as an LPN in a clinic in Canada, that isn't likely to happen for many years. The nurses that are being recruited are being hired for hospital and nursing home positions only. Clinic jobs are very desirable and the competition is fierce. As has been explained several times on this forum in multiple threads, the RNs from the Philippines who are currently working in Alberta as LPNs are doing so as a one time thing because the recruiters had hired them before CARNA had assessed the educational preparation they'd received and found it wanting. It's not very likely that another batch will be treated this way.

mt_66: i submitted my papers with CRNBC last Sept. I got a reply from them, they sent the time frame.all in all, it will take approximately 8 months.though it will vary from candidate to candidate.

You do not need to use an agency, can easily be done on your own.

Apply to province nursing board.

Once you get eligibility to sit CRNE look for a employer

Complete application forms on CIC website and get LMO from employer

When advised get medical

Then will get letter stating you meet requirements and OK to head to Canada.

Arrange move and temp work permit will be issued at port of entry to Canada

I'm still confused. I can bring my husband without applying him workpermit first. right ? Or I have to apply for him together with my application ?

If your husband is accompanying you to Canada but not going to work then he needs to be included on your application. If he plans to work then he needs to submit his own application ideally at the same time as yours. He still needs to be included on yours regardless. Alternatively he can apply for work permit at port of entry but if going to be working in healthcare or something similar and a medical is required then they will not give him one until the medical is done. If he comes with no intention of working and then changes his mind then there is a phone number on the back of your TWP which he needs to ring to organise, same goes if he wants to be a student. He needs a visa allowing him to be a student.

hi! i have submitted my application, together with my IELTS, to CRNBC today. I have also submitted the necessary forms to my school of nursing and PRC.

I am 2nd courser, with BS Tourism as my 1st course. Some of my general subjects from BS Tourism was credited when I applied for BSN. Do I still need to request my 1st school (BS Tourism course) to submit my TOR to CRNBC or is the TOR from my nursing school enough?

I hope to receive my eligibility as soon as possible so I can stay close to my hubby who is in Alberta working as a chef.

that already came to my mind but Alberta have so many requirements compared to other provinces. anyway, if ever i get to BC, we'll just be neighbors hahaha

I think shorter waiting time for Alberta. Based on this forum you have to wait 9 months to 1 yrs pls just to get temp permit from BC.
