hi redtwin,

thanks for the info. we submitted already updated docs in embassy last dec. and now waiting for the medical request. i would just like to have an idea. so how's your application? are you working as a nurse here?

hello there.

my husband and i came here in canada just this january 20 under working visa - the fastest way to go for Pinoy nurses rather than waiting for FSK approval.

you must first apply for CRNBC registration, application fee is about canadian $250 which includes criminal check fee. im not sure if your being a company nurse would count. you need hospital exprience for at least 500 hours for the last 5 yrs or else you will need a refresher course if you graduated more than 5 years ago. once your credentials get approve - you will also pay for the interim/temporary permit for $30/month for max of 9 mos. unlike US, here you first must work for 3 mos b4 you can take ur licensure exam and you will wait for another 2-3 mos for the result of the exam.

once you get approve for CRNBC registration, you can start applying in different hospitals.

4 year nursing course is a must in BC and other provinces like Ontario.

HI, I applied for a working permit last week here in uk, im still waiting for my medical exam. How long is your LMO validity? Cause mine is only 12 mos. And can u share the timeline of ur work visa? From the time you submitted your papers to the embassy up to the issuance of your visa, roughly how long it takes?

Thanks for sharing.

hi dejavu88,

did you applied for a family class immigrant visa or skilled worker or a temporary work permit? if its family class or skilled, processing time would be more than 50 months, so you will still have time to look for a hospital experience. if its a temporary work permit, it will only take a couple of months provided you meet all the immigration requirements e.g. job offer, lmo, prof. regisration, medical, etc...

to dejavu88,

hi! acually i'm doing a volunteer work and reviewing for my IELTS.so far i'm just gethering the required documents by the CARNA(nursing association of calgary).hopefully im going to complete this next week.

my LMO is valid for 1 yr, but i believe our employer will apply for LMO again before it expires. we submitted our working visa application Nov. 12 last year, in less than 10 days we recieve our medical request. Got the visa January 5 '07.

When you land in Canada, did immigration ask for a funds with you?

Are you the principal applicant? What visa your husband have? Was it an open work permit or same as what you have?

Thanks again.

they did not ask for proof of funds. altho we submitted bank certficates during our application but this is not necessary since you have a work waiting for you.

The principal applicant is my husband - we both have a working visa. Mine is an open work permit while his is tied up with his employer who sponsored us.

Your employer can nominate your for the Provincial Nominee Program. This is faster and there are some fee exemption for nurses.
