I know it is kind of early to start this thread but I thought maybe there were some others out there who are planning on applying for fccj/fscj fall 2010 RN program. Hope you will post on this thread!
I'm going to apply at the end of this term, so around May 1 so that I'll have my APII and Socio done. One thing that I was unsure about...I know that we have to submit our test score hard copies, but do we also need to submit a hard copy of our transcript...if we are already an FSCJ student?
I'm taking the NAT tomorrow! So if I dont finish a section, I should use the last minute to guess and fill in answers right? It doesnt penalize for wrong answers, right? Is it best to guess and give an answer or to just do as many as you can?
Also, I heard there are 2 sections that Nursing doesnt use. What sections are they? I have to complete these parts on testing anyway though, right?
Since I will be testing on Feb 25th, I wont be able to retake until about May 25th. Will I get the scores quickly to put with my app and make app deadline of June1. Do they go automatically or can I physically get them on the spot to put with my app.
Another thing, I may be able to get a full scholarship to an LPN program, but there are a lot of catches to this plan. I am considering it because it will be be free, books, tuition, fees, and supplies if I get it. I can get that then Bridge with my money. My other thought is that since it is so hard to get a R.N position as a new grad, that this may benefit me in finding employment faster as an RN after I bridge. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.
Have any of you heard good or bad things about LPN at Concord, First Coast Technical College, or Keiser?
Thanks all!
I've been keeping up with this site/thread for the past few weeks. Right now, I am taking CHM1032C and during the summer, I'm taking A&P1, Micro, PSY, and Nutrition. Fall 2010 term, I'm finishing up with A&P2 and STA2023.
I'm getting a lot conflicting information from the advisors too so I decided to be a rogue and do what I thought was best. I took A&P1 and 2 in high school (dual enrollment) but got C's in them like 12 years ago. I took PSY at UF 10 years ago and got a C. My goal is to override those scores. Is it right? I don't know. Either way, it can't hurt to bring up my GPA and brush up on a few things.
Like most of you guys, I am applying to both FSCJ and UNF. I wish everyone the best of luck. Don't forget to stop in every now and then and let us know how the program is going.
Also, if you are interested in selling your old NAT or TEAS books, please PM me! I don't mind if you marked in it or anything, I prefer you did. ;-)

Unfortunately, you are not able to retake classes. I wanted to retake ENC1101 from "93 and was told no. It stinks! I just had to focus on my NAT scores once I finished all the prereqs. Good luck.
I took 2 classes already and it overrode the old grades completely. They show up on my transcript but not factored in my GPA. I'm pretty confused about how about retake courses work. Then I get MORE confused when I see an advisor. Wish they would all be consistent. Sigh...
I figure if they see I have all A's (and a B or 2) within the past year, they'll see that I am serious about school now.

I would love to know who registered you for those classes! I'd love to retake ENC1101. I went all the way to the Dean and was told NO! If you earned a C or better (no matter how long ago the course was taken), you can not retake the class. So, you might want to go ahead and quickly take those classes if someone is able to override the system for you, LOL! I even tried to go to another college but I was told that it's a Florida rule
Good luck....I'm jealous
I wanted to retake a class I got a C in, and it was my understanding that it could retaken at a different college. My original C was from FCCJ, so I would have needed to go to a different school to retake it. I also went all the way to the dean. If your grades were from another institution, you shouldn't have a problem replacing them at FCCJ. (This is just what I was told... it does seem to differ from person to person).
I'm almost certain I didn't get in for Summer term, so here I am... Any other disgruntled Summer "rejects" on here?:sstrs:
Jen, I'm right here with you. although from what I understand, you have a higher score than I do. I am sitting on a 191.64 and am taking micro right now. the points from this class should be enough to get me over the edge next term. I hope.
yes i cant get over the high cutoff. i certainly thought my 193.6 had a pretty good chance for the summer program, but i have a strong sense of hope. call me whatever but i'm still not giving up. i think some might still have a chance. ive read that people have gotten into the program a day before classes begin. that would be ok with me. i'm ready and i don't mind rushing into things.

I took the NAT today and did pretty well.
I am taking the TEAS at UNF tomorrow, but I am leaning toward FCCJ, even if I get in to UNF because of things I have heard about the differences between the 2 programs.
So, I am applying to FCCJ with over 200 points and hoping that is good enough to get me. I was told the other day that the cutoff for spring was 193, so I am hoping to be safe.
When is everyone applying for the fall? I know that the due date is June 1, does anyone know when they start accepting applications?
thanks,
Laura
