FCCJ/FSCJ Fall 2010 Hopefuls

Published

I know it is kind of early to start this thread but I thought maybe there were some others out there who are planning on applying for fccj/fscj fall 2010 RN program. Hope you will post on this thread!

I hate those really thin ones because you tie them in a neat and secure bow, and after bending and stooping and pulling on it all day, it turns into a tightly clinched knot that is really hard to get undone, especially when you have to pee really, really badly.

Oh man that would be horrible. I'd hate to have pull out my scissors and cut the drawstring, lol.

Ahahaha :D

It's inevitable to be tempted to just cut them. Especially when you work at a hospital or doctor's office because you're always busy and can never go to the bathroom right away. So by time you get the chance, you're already doing the pee-pee dance. Heaven forbid it's a multiple stall bathroom and someone else is in there. They don't know what you're doing. All they know is it sounds like you're wrestling somebody, panting and cursing under your breath.

When do you think orientation will be?

So, after an hour and 31 minutes on hold for financial aid......

Financial aid will only cover tuition and books, and books will be covered by an amount equal to $40 per credit hour per term. Stethoscopes, uniforms, etc. will be out of pocket. I think I read in a post in one of the other threads that the four classes for first term are nursing concepts, nursing techniques, health assessment, and pharmacology. Those total 12 credit hours, so we will have $480 for book allowance, I think.

Plus, apparently we don't need the lab coats, and we won't need our white uniforms until week 7 or 8. So we'll have our disbursements before we need those, assuming there's anything left to disburse after tuition and books.

I'm tempted to freak out, but I just keep reminding myself how much bigger nurses' paychecks are than the ones I currently receive. Sigh, I'm going to feel like a real idiot when I don't get in because of this county thing.

When do you think orientation will be?

I read one post that said it falls on the day that book vouchers become available at the bookstore, which this year is Aug. 16th which is a Monday. But then I read another post that said it varies.

I think I read a post that everything that is ordered from Meridy's has to be done by a certain day, because I think it is all shipped out at the same time. But, I'm not sure. Also, I think what I'm going to do is wait until my scrub tops come in and then take one with me when I go shopping for the pants, only because I want to make sure the color matches up, you know how sometime whites don't match up, the shade might be off. Just sharing my thoughts, lol. Also, I would suggest everyone read the "Summer 2010 Accepted" thread. I read through it and got some great info. Anyhow, this waiting to find out if we all got accepted is killing me!! :uhoh21::uhoh21::uhoh21: Also, I was thinking those of us, hopefully including me, that get accepted could all meet up before orientation. I saw that the Summer 2010 group that got accepted did that and also that they had someone that was already in the program meet with them and she gave them some great advice. Just a thought, let me know what you guys think.

I think it's a great idea to meet up before orientation. Always nice to see friendly faces in the crowd :)

I think meeting up before orientation is a great idea. Let me know if everyone decides to do this. Thanks for the tip about checking out the Summer thread. I am checking it now!!

:lol2:

i would love to meet. i didn't think anyone was posting to this thread because i had not gotten any emails. it usually emails me when there is a post. then a o logged on and wow! there are tons of posts. the wait is killing me!!!!! i applied for n/w with 223. i hope i get in!!!! has everyone done there cpr certification?

I have my CPR certification, took the class a few months ago, to get it out of the way. I also thought I wasn't getting emails from allnurses for a long time, then I realized they were going to my spam box. Well, it's been 6 weeks and 2 days, hope we all here something by the end of the week or beginning of next week. The anxiety is keeping me up at night!

223 will definitely get you in and should be enough to get you into n/w. there are a few places to get the cpr cert done, i drove down to gainesville last fall to get it out of the way, and just to kill some time and enjoy a nice relaxing day.;) it didn't matter for me, as i had to retake the cert this term because it was part of a class i was taking. even though i had my cpr card, i had to retake the class because i needed a numerical grade to be averaged in with my class (first responders). the good thing was that this class went into more detail and i really learned a whole lot more.

check out post #314 (on page 32) from nursratchet, she pulled a lot of info from different post and consolidated it.

You and I are in the same boat! I had to decline my seat the past two semesters as well! I'm sure we will both have better luck this time :yeah:

Hopefully we will all be in the N/WK together!!!!:lol2:
