Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.
I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!
I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!
Best of luck & success to all!!!
I only found out about the BP cuff and the stethoscope, scissors, pen light..... from the head of the RN lab at campus. I went to talk to her about my titers and we ended up talking for ever about the program and she told me we would need all that stuff. She said the BP cuff was not mandatory but that I would be glad to have one and those are not expensive at all. You can get a cheap stethoscope but I would recommend getting the best one you can afford because all the reviews on the cheaper ones are not good. If you get a really expensive one just remeber you won't have to buy another one down the road but I would get it engraved so it doesn't go disappearing. I bought a Littman Cardio III. You can get a kit from Meridys that has everything you need for $52.00 but I doubt the stethoscope is that great. Just get what you can and I am sure you can always borrow from other students if necessary. Most of us are in this to get jobs that can provide us with a decent salary so not everyone can afford all this stuff. You don't have to get it all right now. But the Head of the lab (Mrs. Porter) did say we will need those things.
Hello everyone !! Congrats to everyone who got in !! I got my acceptance letter a couple days ago, and I'm trying to do as much as I can so I can go ahead and finish everything without having to procastinate. Anyways, I just finished with my fingerprint earlier, and the only form that the guy gave me back was the Fingerprinting Authorization Sheet, then he took and kept the Disclosure & Authorization & FDLE sheet. I got home and checked what I'm suppose to turn in and I see the Disclosure & Authorization & FDLE sheet along with what I'm suppose to turn in for JUly 31st. AHHH Now I'm confuse, am I suppose to get those two forms back from them? Does anyone else have this problem??? Help please, let me know if I'm suppose to get those two forms back, so I can turn them in.
Gosh-you guys have this thread up to 56 pages, and you're just getting your acceptance letters....check back in a year and hardly anyone will be talking.
Yeah... and did you see all of the people who have viewed this board?
It's over 11,000, I think. But, I'm sure it will die down once we are in school, and far too busy to chit-chat. But, for now I know we are all happy to have one another to lean on, and sound-board off of. I think we are all pretty much Type A personalities... so we want to make sure we get everything straight, and do it right... hey, now I know why we all got selected out of the 468 that applied this Fall... go figure!
Just so everyone knows...be sure to have extra time when you go to get fingerprinted because my appt. was at 10:40 and I didn't get done till noon. It's basically a cattle call at 10, first come first serve, regardless of your appt. time. Just a heads up ya'll! Oh and Navywifeim, it was great to meet you.
I remember someone saying something about studying on the Southside. I live/work over there and would love study partners! I wish I already had my books! I am sick of the summer and not having classes!
I live out that way. Shoot me an email sometime, [email protected]

hi, I got my fingerprint done today too, but I was there around 915am and nobody was there, so I got it done in like 5 mins. Anyways did the guy take your Disclosure & Authorization form & FDLE? cus he took mine and didn't give them back, I checked the list on what we were suppose to turn in for the 31st and I saw those two forms in there. I tried calling them, but I didn't get any answers. Ugh now it's frustrating me because I don't have a copy of those form.
You don't have to turn those 2 forms in. They go directly to the nursing office. Just turn in the authorization sheet. There are a few things on that list that you can't turn in yourself. Call Tarolyn Lee (her number is in your packet) and she will tell you all the stuff that has to be in by the 31st.

I'm bringing my stuff up to North Campus tomorrow. I'm finally done with all of this stuff and can't wait to turn it in. I will let everyone know what happens (what forms we need/ don't need to have).

Thank you!! It is such a relief that I can try to at least shop around for some of those things!
