FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Oh and you may want to get a watch that is plastic and water resistant. Your gloves don't always cover your watch and I have come home from clinicals and felt the need to disinfect mine. Can you imagine the kinds of bacteria that could be on there after dealing with sick patients all day? Some people have watches that attach to their stethoscope too.

Okay so we can get the white pants from somewhere other than Meridys, but there is something also about khakis....Can we just get any khakis(like old navy)? To a certain extent it is part of another uniform so I can understand wanting everyone to look "uniform."

Also does anyone happen to know what the grand total for everything for first semester is going to be(books, tuition, etc.)? Just a round number would be nice. :D

Oh and when you guys went to have your titers drawn at Northside Med was it immediate that you got the positive result or was it something they had to send off and you would find out later? The reason that I ask is becuase I am not sure that I have Hep B vacc. My dad is going to be able to draw my blood for the titers on the 21st and then he will have to send off for 2 of the tests so I will have to wait 2-4 days to get results back. I don't know if I have the patience for that but it is free if I do it through him. Otherwise I go through Northside, etc. Thank you.

I would have never thought of that question but that was a brilliant one to ask!

Hey Guys, i'm new to the message boards.. i just now found out about them today while I was at work :bluecry1: another nurse told me about them. I also got accepted into the fall term, i'm so upset to hear that they won't have the night session, because I was really hoping to be with my son during the day, and cut out the extra expense of childcare! so is anyone planning to meet up before the orientation? I'm going up to Northside medical clinic tommorrow to get all my stuff done, anyone else? well Congrats to all of you, I know I was so excited when I got my letter! It's going to be really hard from what I'm told, but it will be so worth it in the end. So I'm excited about meeting all of you, I only wish I would of known about this before hand.. It would of made the waiting process a lot easier!

Welcome to the board!!! Congrats on getting in, as well!!!

Oh, the previous question about the titers was a good question... so can anyone enlighten us folks that haven't had it done yet? Do you get the results right then, or do they contact you later?

Hi Kalkan, welcome to our forum. The titers results at Northside came in the next day. You have to go pick them up. I think I read something in the paperwork that the khakis didn't have to be from Meridy's. Does anyone know for sure? I've been really struggling and praying about childcare for my two little ones. This morning at church I met up with a young woman about to get married and she was thrilled when I asked if she could watch my kids. I'm so excited!! Really an answer to prayer. Just wanted to share with you guys.

Kodiakgirl: Congrats on finding a babysitter!! I'm sure that is a true answer to prayer.

New Members: Welcome and Congratulations on Getting IN!!!

Titer Results: Takes a couple of days. If your getting a TB test done there, I recommend going on a day they offer them. Get your titers, drug tests, and physical done all in one day. Then you will need to go back and get your TB test checked within a 24hr to 36hr period. So you'll have to go back in a couple of days and they will give you results. Its fun fun fun..lol.

Uniforms: I bought one pair of their pants and will buy one pair not from them. I also bought one pair of their khakis and will buy one of my own. I didn't think about the color of my panties with the white..lol..should be interesting.

If anyone is going to the Clinic tomorrow..I will be there for hopefully the LAST time!!

Have a good night everyone!!

well that is wonderful! my mom can keep my little man on the weekends, and my husband can keep him on mondays but it's just that tues-fri that i'll have to find a sitter, or daycare depending on what my schedule looks like... I work at memorial hospital, and one of our nurses graduated from fccj, and she said during her term they told her they weren't going to offer the night class either, and then the day of orientation, they asked who wanted to be in night's so maybe i'll get lucky, but if not i have to make it work! i actually got accepted last fall, but two days later i found out i was pregnant and declined my seat.. so now that my lil one is 4 ,months I have to go back! i'm so nervous! I read in the packet that you can get your own khakis, i believe it was on the page to do with the polo shirts! boy this is a lot of money to fork out...does anyone know if you can make an appt. at northside med clinic, or is it only walk-in? and if you do walk in about how long is the wait? by the way my Name is Kalli guys, and you can look me up on myspace by [email protected] i'm also on facebook which you can just find my name! well i'm going to catch some z's ladies!

Oh I forgot I am kinda new to myspace but you can find me at http://www.myspace.com/thejourneycalledlife

Thank you for the answers everyone. Decisions, decisions. I was so looking forward to being able to get everything now that I know what I need it seems overwhelming.

Good night everyone.

Most of us wear white or nude colored. But it's not too big a deal because the uniform top is long enough (mine comes down past my fingertips) and you can't see the underwear through the pants and the top. You will see that when you get them. However you are going to need like a tank top or camosole(sp?) to wear because you can see a bra through the tops. And you will notice that you can see the guy's boxer shorts through their white scrubs.

How in the world did you get your uniform already!?!?!? Dang!!!
