FCCJ Fall 09 RN

Nursing Students General Students

Hello all! Hopefully all of you out there accepted to the Fall 2009 RN program at FCCJ will join me on this thread so we can help each other out. I went today to get my pants and found some of the white ones (come in petites and tall with flared legs and slits to fit over our shoes, Cherokee brand, $13.99) at Uniform Outlet at the St Augustine outlet mall. They also carry the pocket organizers (with flat scissors and pen light included), stethoscope (inexpensive ones, so they may not be of the quality you are looking for) and all the BP cuff things we need.

I am waiting until orientation to order my polo and uniformed top so that we may be able to try them on. Does anyone know what is included in the skills kit and if they will be available at orientation?

I am getting excited and can't wait to meet everyone!

Congrats hgerun5!!! I know it all seems so stressful, but it you have a couple days off you can get it done, just start NOW lol. Order everything, make appointments, and have fun at your bf graduation!

where did everyone get their titers done? I can go to my doc and get it done but he sends me to lab corp and i wont get it bak for 2 weeks

Some people have gone to Northside Medical Clinic wherre we have to do our drug screening. I believe they will do the physical and titers too. I'm going to try to go there Monday morning to get all of that completed. I also just posted a reply to you on the other thread about switching. I need to talk to my boss and she's out today. But I can let you know Monday afternoon if that works for you?

ya allie def let me know!!

Thanks for making this thread!! Congrats to everyone that got in!!! Im glad you guys have some of the same concerns as me, im just reading away!... =]

I went to my Employee Health Nurse (at the hospital I work at) and got my titers done there. I didnt even have to pay!... but I still have to go to my MD office to get the physical part... I would recommend this to anyone already working at a hospital...

Some of the nurses I work with graduated from FCCJ and they told me that they bought their pants from other places, not meridys.com. I heard that the tops are somewhat smaller just because of the zipper style... but I would like to try them on... =\

Well thanks again for all the input everyone posts on here...

Have a nice day! and I'll see everyone at orientation!

How long does it take to get titer results at the Northside medical clinic?

Also, how did you all figure out whether you are in days or nights. I haven't a clue.

My "Congratulations" paper within the packet that I picked up at FCCJ specifically stated that I was enrolled in the "evening" and "weekends" program. So if you do not see this written there, I can only assume you are enrolled in the day program. On another note, if anybody would like to switch to evenings and saturday let me know and maybe we can figure something out.

Another question - If I order my stethoscope from Meridy's along with my uniform and lab coat, do you think it will come in before August 31st? I know on the Meridy's form it says that September 15th is the "approximate order ship date", so I was thinking if I order a stethoscope there that I wouldn't receive it until then.

Good luck to all and see you guys at Orientation :wink2:

Just to let everyone know

THE SKILLS KITS ARE IN, but they only have 35 so hurry to get them!!

Also, I know someone was talking about them giving away skills kits at orientation, but that is not true, I asked the lady there and she said they are not going to orientation and looked pretty puzzled about my question. So get yours before they run out. I got mine today and it has all kinds of cool things in it like things for doing an iv and needles. I feel bad for the guys though because they come in various styles of bags and they are all pretty girly.

Does anyone know if they make ID's at Kent campus??

My letter didn't say. I know prior semesters mentioned a sticker on the envelope that says days or nights and weekends, but I didn't have that either...weird. Maybe I'll give them a call next week.

I had my blood drawn on the 5th and I was told the results should be in on Mon. the 10th. The staff at the clinic said that the lab runs the blood on Mon, Wed, Fri. So I would assume that if you go Mon you will have your results by Fri? But we all know what assuming does.... You can call them and double check but please hurry with what ever you do we are all running out of time to get this stuff done.

I'm wondering about the student IDs at Kent as well, it's a lot closer for me - if they just have to be done by the start of class and not orientation do you guys think its possible to get it done on campus the day of orientation?

One more question on pocket organizer...is it the nylon organizer kit ($12) or the pocket pal($4) on the meridys.com site? Anyone find this elsewhere?

And the skills kit says to call and pay for it when you pick it up...pick it up at the address listed for their store or somewhere on campus?

Thanks. I made the mistake of thinking that I could do the physical and titers at the same appt at my doctors office. But time won't allow that. I think I am going to call Solantic tomorrow to see how long it takes to get results. I read on their site that they do titers and they are open on Saturdays. Maybe I can get them done tomorrow. I have everything else done. And I thought I had this titer thing under control, but apparently not. What a headache.
