FCCJ/FSCJ nursing program HELP!!!
I took all 3 my last term before applying to the nursing program. I did just fine, it does depend on your instructors. The 2 instructors I had are both really good. If you get them you will learn and comprehend a lot. Both of them are at south campus. As far as the test goes (PSB-NAT) there are test prep books available. I used Kaplans Nursing school entrance exam 3rd edition. It has some practice tests you can take to help you focus on the area you need to concentrate on. Hope you find this info helpful.

FCCJ Fall 09 RN
I did not get an email from Meridy, but I did call them to check on when my order might ship. They did tell me that they were waiting for the school to update the art work for the new logo. Until that happens all the orders are on hold. She could not tell when the orders would ship but that Meridy and the school were in constant communication. So we shall see what happens next. The good news is that we will not need our uniforms until week 7 or so. That should be enough time I would think to get everyone stuff to them. Alas who knows. Good luck everyone. Anyone in section 5?

That is everything, remember the study guides are supplements to the text books.

FCCJ pre-reqs for nursing school
I agree with everything that SaraFl said. I took A&P 1 and Chemistry and then A&P II,Micro and Human growth. Micro was the hardest of these in my opinion. I would take the English, human growth and psychology at the same time. These classes will have the most writing and research where the sciences are more memorization and "learning". Call FSCJ North campus and they can send you a packet that will explain the point system. Basically it is a combination of grades and the PSB-NAT test score. So yes to be competitive you need to do really well in ALL your classes. Fall 09 had 600+ applicants for 168 spots. Good Luck.

FCCJ Fall 09 RN
amberFCCJ and anyone else who is in the same boat about the physicals.... I spoke with Nurse at FCCJ and she told me that even if the titers came back negative as long as I had started the necessary injections and she received a positive titer report by the time clinical's started that would be fine. She did also say to review the lab report while you were still at the doctors office and if any of the titers were neg to go ahead and get the shot you need right then and there. She wants to ensure that people are taking the proper action to get things done in a timely manner. She also said she could not let ANY student start clinical's without the required vaccinations. I know this is all very frustrating..but hang in there.. they may not seem like it but they will work with us if we play by their rules and jump through the hoops....remember they have to protect the real patients at the same time the staff do want to see us succeed. I would also suggest that if you do not think that you are going to get results back in time..Call the Nurse and talk to her. She is a little gruff at first but be patient and take your time with her and be respectful and she will eventually warm up. Keep in mind she has rules she has to follow from not only the school but the hospitals as well. As far a northside clinic goes they only take cash or credit no checks or insurance..as far as costs go I paid $215.00 total for the physical, mmr and varic titers, hep B vac, Tdap vac, and TB test. Lastly....Breathe...the bureaucracy is just beginning...We all have a long tuff road ahead. But it will be fun and challenging and in the end we will be successful and attain the common goal...RN at the end of our names. Good Luck to All.. PS... I was at Statline today and it looked liked they had plenty of kits but do call ahead it is a bit scary of a local.

I spoke with the Stat line people as well. What they told me was that they order around 200 kits. The only recieved 35 of that order. She rambled about some items were not available from supplier or something. So it is not really all statlines fault. However, they should have been ready, All the schools start a fall term so to have some on order early would have been the right way to go.

Stephanie09 I had my blood drawn on the 5th and I was told the results should be in on Mon. the 10th. The staff at the clinic said that the lab runs the blood on Mon, Wed, Fri. So I would assume that if you go Mon you will have your results by Fri? But we all know what assuming does.... You can call them and double check but please hurry with what ever you do we are all running out of time to get this stuff done.

Thanks Tiara, I am aware of the dates but I go Monday to pick up the lab results and get the physical so the dates should be fine. They have all of the prices posted next to the check in window when you go for your drug test.

FCCJ Fall 09 RN
Hello All Thanks for starting this thread. I called and asked about the photo Id, I was told it was the standard student Id nothing special about it. If you already have one from pre-reqs then you do not need another. If anyone is interested I live in Mandarin and I called around for prices on Physicals and Titers etc, The least expensive place that I found was the Northside Clinic where we have to go to get the drug test. They are almost $300 cheaper than any of the other walk-ins in the area. I know it is a long drive but for the money savings it is worth it. The staff know exactly what you need and are mostly friendly. It is walk in only so be ready to wait if they are busy. I went and was there about 2 hours total. I waited in the waiting room about 20 mins. Good luck to all

FCCJ Fall '09???
szilist, each term has a different point spread and a different cut off, it depends on the applications they receive. how many apply, the point spread is usually lower in spring and fewer people apply. However, there are also fewer spots available so it is just as competitive. I believe last springs orientation was late March early April. Its usually a few weeks before classes start. Hope this helps and good luck.

FCCJ Fall '09???
I just got back from North Campus and spoke with the receptionist. I was told the cut off was 190.5 and that 668 applied. She did not know the break down by counties. My sympathies to those of you who were on the cusp and did not make it this time.

FCCJ Fall '09???
Hello all, I am new to this board and also just received my acceptance letter for fall 09. Like most of you out there I have many many questions. It dawned on me that no matter what happens now there is always a tomorrow. Let's not stress over the "right" piece of equipment, after all we have other more important issues ahead of us. With that said IMHO and personal experience, get the best piece of equipment you can afford, set yourself up for success and that is what you will achieve. It does not hurt to be practical just don't lose sight of what you are trying to do. Speaking from experience sometimes saving money now my force you to spend more later, not to mention its always best to train with the equipment you are going to use. Also don't be afraid to ask the faculty for advice they are there to educate us and see us succeed. Good Luck to all, see you at orientation.:)
