FAU Accelerated BSN 2011

Hi I was a current male physical therapy student disappointed with my career choice with a burning passion to be more involved with medicine and taking care of patients. I realized that nursing was a better avenue for what I wanted to do in life (I didn't care to get patients up and walk them, I'd rather be more involved with medical treatment). So I applied to FAU's Accelerated BSN program hoping to be accepted for MAY 2011!!! I will be taking a few more pre-reqs at palm beach state college and hope to hear the good news in February.

Any one else apply?? :coollook:

To all the wait listed ones, there will be at least one spot opening up. I got in but

will not be able to attend. I have also applied to UCF and feel good about my chances

there as well. But I won't be able to go there either. When I applied, my husband was

considering two jobs, one that allowed him to live pretty much anywhere and the other in

Tampa. He ended up with the Tampa job, which is great because it was the better job of the

two, but unfortunately it limits me to just USF. I will be applying to their Fall 2011 accelerated

program. The good news is that it is my first choice program but the bad news is that I do

not feel good about my chances. They require a resume of prior experience and a writing sample.

I don't have any experience and my creative writing ability is nonexistent. My strengths are my

grades and my standardized test scores. UGH, I wish I could trade someone my HESI/TEAS scores for

an inspiring writing sample!

Atakes, The USF app isnt due until JUNe 1. Try and Volunteer in a hospital these last few months or something to put down. Try and show them anything that shows you are a good caring person and give back to your community. Best of Luck!

If I don't get into USF this year, my plan is to take the red cross nursing assistant course, volunteer for a year, and then try again. My grades are good so if I can pull off a grammatically correct, if boring, writing sample, maybe I will have a shot. :)

I just got accepted to the FAU accelerated program as well, and also just found this snazzy little website...does anyone know how many students are in just the accelerated program? i.e., will it become a tight knit group of students?

Hey congrats everyone who was accepted in FAU's program!! I'm hoping to be joining everyone come Spring 2012!! I was already accepted into FAU and am starting my pre reqs this summer at a local community school :)

No they didn't give me a position, but said the waiting list is "very short". I had to reply to confirm that I wanted to be on it

Hey everyone! I'm new at this, but I've read this thread and

am excited to join all of you for 2011's Accelerated BSN program!

I have heard that there are 50 spots and I am SO excited to be able

Hi kfin14! Congrats on getting in!! Look forward to meeting you:)...you seem to know a bit about the program; do you happen to know whether the accel BSN courses will be exclusively for the BSN students, or will we be in bigger classes with other undergrads?? Let me know if you know! Or if anyone else knows, please share as well:)!

I have no idea about the class details...guess we will find out together

in 2 short months! Question for you: do you know for sure the

program starts the 16th or 17th...the acceptance letter said the 17th,

but I thought it was the 16th?

I am super excited!!! :lol2:

I was accepted off of the waitlist today. The email says that class starts May 16.
