Hi I was a current male physical therapy student disappointed with my career choice with a burning passion to be more involved with medicine and taking care of patients. I realized that nursing was a better avenue for what I wanted to do in life (I didn't care to get patients up and walk them, I'd rather be more involved with medical treatment). So I applied to FAU's Accelerated BSN program hoping to be accepted for MAY 2011!!! I will be taking a few more pre-reqs at palm beach state college and hope to hear the good news in February.
Any one else apply??
Honestly, I spent my 4 years at Fau as a bio major and could not see myself at that school for another year. I also took into consideration the clinical experience UM has to offer. I know it's on the pricey side but I really wanted to have clinicalExperience in a well known hospital since shadowing doctors previously have told me that Jackson Memorial has a lot to see as well as everything under the sun comes in. Not to mention UM has always been my dream school. I have had people from Fau's Nursing program tell me that they did not feel prepared when they entered the field and I just did not want to take that risk. Miami really focuses and emphasizes on clinical experience and it's a highly ranked program in Florida. Where else did you apply?
That is true! Jackson Memorial is amazing... I debated applying to UM because of it but I wanted to take my chance on the public programs for now. I have applied to UCF and USF. UCF seems to have less applicants and USF focuses more on the personal essay which is nice. I've been nervous ever since FAU did not accept me but I'm sure it'll all work out.
My overall GPA is quite low... 3.3 :/ and my pre-requisites are only 3.5. I did very well (~98%) on both the TEAS and HESI. I have a ton of volunteer/health experience so I'm hoping that USF will work out with that... I know my chances are low with the whole GPA thing. I may have to just go with a private institution.
I felt the same with UM. I literally applied 3weeks ago and they got back to me in 2 weeks. I also applied to USF. If I didn't apply to Um that school was my first choice because as a public school their program is awesome! I've heard nothing but wonderful things. Good luck! It will work out. Stay positive
Of course! I really didn't think I was going to get in lol so if all else fails... I also had applied to Rush in Chicago, great school. Its a masters and you wouldn't have to take the Gre since your gpa is above the requirements. They offered me an interview but decided not to go. you just have to apply everywhere! :)

I found out that I was not accepted last Friday (Feb. 24th). It seems that they really prefer FAU native freshman applicants. Also, I'm sure the enormous amount of applications did not help...
Congrats to those who did get accepted! :) I am jealous.
