Hey guys!
I didn't see a thread started for Farmingdale's Advanced Standing Program. I wanted to see if there is anyone already preparing to apply for their Spring 2021 semester. I'm starting my application now.
Side note: Does anyone know if Farmingdale prefers/requires letters of recommendation, resume, or any additional documents (aside from official transcripts and TEAS score)??

I have a question plz: do they send anything for the rejected people , any letters or emails! ,
it still says on my portal we will review your application shortly, u portals guys showed the same thing before it changed to accepted !
Yes my status was saying the same thing this morning and around 12 my status changed to congratulations,
I'm really excited for all those who where accepted and hoping the best for those who didn't get an exact answer! Does anyone know the retention/dropout rate for the farmingdale program? What happens if someone fails a class? I'm currently in a Community College's Nursing program and it's extremely hard, people are constantly failing (good hard working students) and repeating classes. It's horrible.
Congrats to everyone that was accepted. However there’s still no update on my portal. Is anyone else having this issue? I’m assuming I was rejected but I would appreciate it if they could at least tell me so I can stop refreshing the portal every five minutes.
I called admissions this morning they said all decisions will be sent out by today. Then I called this afternoon and they said the portals may be updated tomorrow. I’m just so confused LOL

I'm currently in the Farmingdale nursing program and graduating next December. I know how crazy and stressful this can all be. If you guys have any questions let me know! I would be happy to help! ?
Hi Catsweeney!
Can you tell us a little more about the program? Like how difficult are the tests and what would be considered a pass in the nursing classes? Are the teachers happy to help out students? Is it common for students to fail a nursing class? I was thankfully accepted to Farmingdale and trying to compare my optionsbecausee I'm in a community college program right that is known to fail students very easily, pass is a 75 and the tests are the only things that count towards your grade.
Thanks!

Congrats everyone!! Farmingdale has a great nursing program and you should all be very proud of you accomplishments. As for the classes and tests, I think they are pretty standard on how other nursing programs are. It is in no ways easy, it is a lot of hard work but it is definitely do-able. In order to pass a nursing class, your test average must be a 77 or higher. It depends on the class but most of the core nursing classes (fundamentals, med surg 1 and 2, peds/maternity, etc.) are about 85-90% based off of tests with the extra 10-15% being assignments or presentations. But your test average at the end of the semester MUST hit a 77 or higher. Besides Fundamentals which is the first semester, if you fail, you can retake the class I believe once(could be more but I don't think so). That first semester Fundamentals class is the only class if you fail once, you're out. I'm not gonna lie, there has been a couple of students that have failed out in my first semester. The others that have left throughout the program were for external reasons, not related to grades (personal family issues, having to take a semester off and picking back up a semester later, etc.) There are a couple of other nuisances that they will explain to you every semester. Things like dosage calculation tests (there's 1 every semester) that you must receive at least a 90 on to pass but you get a retake or 2 depending on the semester. There's also skills testing with hands on stuff every semester you must pass and theres a retake if needed. No one in my class has been kicked out for a dosage test or skills test. I know this seems really overwhelming and like a lot (and sometimes it can be) but you really get a handle of it once you get going. As for the professors, they are really wonderful. I can honestly say I have not had a bad teacher or a bad experience since I started this program 4 semesters ago. If you study hard and put in the work, you will succeed. All of our tests are NCLEX style questions so once you are done with the program, you are very prepared. I am happy to answer any other questions! I know how crazy, exciting and stressful this time could be so I am happy to help!

Thank you! Your input is really helpful! Regarding the tests again and the first semester...I know that nursing exams require adjustment, so I'm curious to know how the majority of students do on the fundamentals tests. Did majority of the students pass the first few exams or did many fail?
Thank you!

Most people passed on the fundamentals exams! Usually the average for a lot of the tests in the nursing program are in the mid 80s!

I haven’t heard anything either. I called admissions they said acceptances and denials will go out today.
