Have you ever had a famous person as a patient in hospital or clinic? You need not say the reason for their visit for sake of confidentiality, if they are still living. Did they expect or receive special or unique attention?

Were they humble or pretentious?

Borris' NZ nurse did her ICU post grad at my hospital....

In my district we have 2 conjoined twins at a local nursing home. They are awesome, and have great stories to tell. We have 10 pages of separate protocols just for them. When I first heard about it I thought “OMG I have so many questions right now”

Just to clarify, 2 sets of conjoined twins or 1 set of 2 twins that are conjoined?

I took care of the parents of a pair of actors. The parents were absolutely delightful, kind, and never asked for special treatment. One of the children would bring a 6 pack of beer when visiting dad and watch football on Sundays, never asked for anything. Polite always kind and talked to all of the staff, was genuinely interested in getting to know who was taking care of the parents. The sibling on the other hand blew in like the wind and turned everything topsy turvy. Demanding, nasty, referred to the staff as hey you. We cringes when that sibling showed up.

Friend of mine took care of an NFL player after a nasty leg fracture. He was very nice, but his celebrity girlfriend was a big pain. She expected the nurses to take care of her as well as him, even demanding that my friend wash, dry and style her hair. She complained to the nursing supervisor when she was told by my friend that she had gone to nursing school and not cosmetology school, and gave her the number to a local salon. He apologized profusely for her, and was decent enough to be embarrassed by her behavior.

I have taken care of doctors. Kind of awkward.

One of my Instructors refused student nurses when she was in

L & D. Smart lady. LOL

I took care of the children of a couple of quite famous actors, and the daughter of a doctor. Parents and kids were all very nice and polite.

What about celebrities that make their health problems, diseases public? So many, especially in the news.

Is it wrong to mention that you knew them?

It seems wrong to me. It's just really unnecessary and it might be HIPAA violation. Why chance it except maybe to your pillow talkee?

Your friend shouldn't have smarted off. A simple smile and "I am sorry, I am not allowed to do that and anyway I have this deadly rash. Would you maybe like an enema?" ? Just kidding.

Every hospital has the infamous patient who is known by every unit, ancillary staff, and doctor in the hospital. They are not famous in the public celebrity sort of way, but they are truly infamous.

When things gets boring, I do miss them until....

Oh yeah, I think most places know that famous person! Be careful, say their name out loud and sure as heck they'll be there soon.
