Ok is it just me? When I go home from clinicals all I wanna do is talk about the new stuff I learned. My family and friends now just refuse to listen to me. I'm totally excited to say I saw a the insertion of a ng tube, or a patient with a stoma and all colostomy bag, or a real life sterile dressing change. At this point they usually stick their fingers in their ears and sing la la la la la or they just walk away!!!
Makes me glad to have this site to run to.

Now that is an image that isn't going away anytime soon....LMAO!
You guys should read the thread "you know you are a nurse when" or maybe it is called "you know you are a nursing student when". I don't have time to dig up the links...I got my first care plan to do...eeeeeeeeeeek.

If I have to listen to my husbands boring stories about how he sold this vehicle and that vehicle, then he has to listen to my clinical stories, lol. Great we have this site though!! :)

LOL, I know- my sister who is a premed takes upon herself to inform me of basic immunology (telling me with such -authority- about the different types of immunoglobulins and what they do...all so far stuff I learned in A&PII, but she believes "most nurses are stupid because you don't have to be all that smart to be one". Thanks, hypothetical med student.) and I usually go something like..."Yeah, last Friday I saw a guy with a hole in his leg you could stick your middle finger into. Guess he doesn't have enough of them there ABCs you was talkin' 'bout" Then she blanches and stops talking to me. None of my non-nursing friends can even get through "Today I saw.." anymore LOL.

lol....its tough for my finance, not only am I a nurse, but her mom is a nurse too, we work the same shift on units right next door to each other. We'll usually talk about work and she'll leave the room, or be going "I don't wanna hear this, I'm not a nurse....(sung to the tune of toys r us kid)....lol...
If I have to hear about her days, she has to return the favor...but I usually censor it somewhat....

I only have my husband to tell in person and he won't let me tell him, so I have to tell my nursing school friends or my mom on the phone.
I don't want to hear about colostomy's either though, ugh I had to walk out of the room that day :stone In my defense though I was sick and the smell was even worse and being sick it was like I could taste it in my throat and I was already light headed so yeah I snuck out :stone
