Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Published

Hey Everyone,

I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?

I was 136. I had emailed the nursing director at Vance Granville and she said I'd be competitive. They do their points a little different so I'm hopeful I'll still have a place for Nursing School in the fall

Hi Leahearman!! Do you know what vgcc competitive points are?? What's the range? If you don't mind me asking, what are your points? I looked at their point system and it is quite different than wake tech. I'm thinking about applying IF I'm not accepted to wake tech. :yes:

Hi ladies! I know that VGCC has multiple locations. Which location is their health sciences campus where students would be taking their nursing courses? Is the application process the same, fill out the college application, attend an information session, meet with an advisor, take the TEAS, be a CNA etc.? I've heard the point scale is different than Wake.

leahearman14, are your 136 points at WTCC? VGCC? Or both?

Hi! From my little research, the location for ADN students is the main campus. Yes, the application process is the same including CNA registry, info session (can be done online), and take teas. Their point system is quite different than other schools. It seems as though for all general Ed courses, their points are as follows:

A = 10 points

B = 5 points

C = 3 points

10 points for residing in Granville, Vance, Franklin, or Warren counties.

5 points for 75% general Ed course completed

5 points for an approved healthcare course and CNA can NOT be used as a waiver.

58.7% individual adjusted teas score (Not sure of allocated points but you have to pass with this score or higher to be considered.

I'm not sure what's the competitve points are from prior years. I've asked a few people on this site but no one has responded.

Leahearman14 points are for wake tech. I read that in a prior post.

Well I have decided to go to FTCC over Wake. The schedule is so much better and will allow me to really focus on my studies while being with my family. The schedule at Wake just sucks...it's not doable for me. I wish it was a different schedule, but good luck to everyone!

APeregoy what is the schedule. I agree the schedule at Wake is difficult. When will you start? I'm happy for you

Really AP??!! So did you get accepted to FTCC?? If so, congrats!! I know how much you REALLY wanted to go to wake tech though :( Is the schedule really that bad compared to FTCC?? What's the schedule like?

Congrats on FTCC! I've heard other people complain about the scheduling. What about it don't you like? I kind of like the schedule. I'm only nervous bc I've heard rumors that stuff comes up a lot so people with children need to have a plan for child care in the evening. I don't have kids but I do work so that makes me a little nervous.

I hate that it's 5 days a week and it's half days...FTCC is 3 days a week first semester and 4 days the rest. I have a kid and a husband. I want to be able to see my family. If they would combine class days and make it one long day I'd like it better.

I don't blame you, AP. I only wish I applied to other schools. I'm sure I would have gotten in elsewhere. Good Luck to you and yours!

Congrats AP, you've made the right choice, family first and getting into nursing school and becoming a RN sooner. Do you live closer to FTCC? I live up the block from wake tech, which is another reason why that's my only choice.

Hey bgo 26 are you applying this Spring?

They're basically the same distance...FTCC is just a tiny bit closer and the clinical sites will be closer. The schedule was my deciding factor though. I can't imagine doing 5 days a week plus work full time and still trying to have my family.

Someone said that clinicals were m-th and half days?? Students have Friday off..I guess that's untrue. So, what's the schedule? Did you get accepted to FTCC??
