Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey Everyone,

I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?

Ok, so I emailed health advising back about pinning. I asked was the pinning ceremony an option vs graduation. They said "no and that graduation is separate. As far as we know, there is no pinning ceremony for nursing students." So that totally sucks. I'm probably just going to have my own pinning ceremony with family and friends. :D

That makes me sad! Oh well! As long as I can get my degree and work as an RN I will be okay :) lol. I wonder if this is just specific to WTCC or if other community colleges are doing this now too?

Day clinicals end around 12. And I don't think they change from semester to semester.

Do students register for nursing 111 at orientation? Or when do they register? Do pay for verified credentials when you make the profile or later?

EmilyNicole91 (or anyone who has attended orientation in the past) the only requirement that students had to complete before they attended orientation was the background check, right?

If you are accepted the day of orientation you get your section number and you can register as soon as registration is open.

You pay for verfied credentials when you make it. And yes, just a background check.

Thanks for all the info EmilyNicole91! I read that once the background check is ordered, it takes 3-5 days for them to complete it. Whenever you attended orientation was your background check completed, or was yours still in that 3-5 day range for processing? Hope classes are going well for you! Have you guys had your first exam yet? If so, how did it go?

No problem! Mine was done in time. They give you enough time to get it done. I just took my medication calculations exam today and then next Friday is exam 1.

EmilyNicole91, not sure if you mentioned this already, but what skills did you get when they evaluated your NA skills the first week of class? Do you happen to remember what skills other students got? Which skills were popular? I apologize if you mentioned it already. Good luck on your exam next week! I am sure you will do great!! :)

Everyone did the same skills and it was hand washing, ppe, measuring urinary output, bp, and pulse. Idk if this changes year to year or not.

Hey EmilyNicole91!! How's the semester going?? Im sure it's quite busy but YOU GOT IT!! I know I'm a little late but would you answer a few questions. After your acceptance phone call, did you get an email too?? How did you get your schedule? What were your next steps? Sorry for all the questions :) Hope all is well!!

So I got an email shortly after my phone call. I'm pretty sure she told me on the phone my section number and then it was in the email as well. I then went to webadvisor and registered. Then you wait until your first day of class where you be overwhelmed with information lol. But the semester I'd going good just ready for the break that is coming up!
