Hey Everyone,
I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?
Em, I so wish you the best throughout this journey. Thanks for keeping us posted, I live for updates! WakeMed is great and I do have a friend at my church who is in her last semester and she does have a spot at Wake Med already, actually two friends from the church have. One just graduated this past May and the other will in December.
Mrslaflin, nice to meet ya! Are you applying for Spring 2017? Those points will get in you for sure without the TEAS. All these years no calculators and bam, this August you can use one. Of course after I took my two chances at it, lol
EmilyNicole91, you mentioned you were assigned to WakeMed and start your clinical rotation next Thursday. Which floor? Curious as to what order they do clinical rotations. Do you guys rotate between hospitals? Do you just stay at WakeMed until the end of the semester and then next semester you rotate to a different hospital?
Hey guys! Sorry I didn't get an email saying there was an update on here. But I am on the neurology floor. We do rotate but I do not know exactly how it works. We not only rotate floors but also hospitals. It is possible for someone to be at the same hospital though. I also noticed on my calendar that October 27 we start going to clinicals 2 days a week. I feel like this was a question someone asked before and I didn't know to the answer to then. So I was an alternate so I didn't get an acceptance letter originally and cannot remember what my letter said to be honest. Since I was an alternate I had to wait for a phone call letting me know I was accepted. I am not sure about the pinning ceremony. I had heard rumor that they did not do them as well. I would be surprised if they didn't.
Thanks for the update EmilyNicole91! I haven't been getting emails either. I found this email in my spam..ugh. Anyway, I just emailed health advising about the pinning ceremony. I asked "Does the nursing department still have pinning ceremonies?" They replied "I believe the pinning ceremony has been stopped in lieu of students attending graduation." So the rumor seems true...Noooo!! That's SUCH an important milestone for nurses entering the workforce. I'm waiting on my acceptance letter this month (hopefully September 23rd) *fingers crossed tight*.
So I volunteered for evening clinicals because I am not a morning person. Right now clinicals are Thursdays. In general mine are from 1:30 to 5:30. But you have to pay attention to the calendar because sometimes you go at a different time. Like today I am there 3:30 to 7:30. There is one day that I am there 1:30 to 6:30. Once the two day clinicals start we will have clinicals Thursday and Friday. My groups time is 1:30 to 7:30. The morning right now has been going around 8 most days but they will soon switch to a 6:45 am start time.
That sucks that they don't do a pinning ceremony. I'll have my fingers crossed for the both yall!
What does health science advising mean? Do they not have a big turn out at pinning because students would rather go to graduation? I didn't realize they fell on the same day at the same time. I thought both ceremonies would be totally separate so that students have the option to attend both if they wanted.
EmilyNicole91, day clinical starting at 8 typically ends around what time? Do you know? Do you know if clinical days change from semester to semester? For example I wonder if students starting in the spring would have their clinical days Wednesday and Thursday or have theirs like yours (Thursday and Friday)?

I'm not sure where I'm taking it either wake tech or JCC. I know with the new teas teas you will be able to use a calculator on the math portion. I also believe so of the sections seem to be broken down and worded at little different as I already had a book version five of the teas and order the exact same book in version six and I can definitely see some slight differences.
