Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Published

Hey Everyone,

I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?

Mrs. Watkins emailed me back and just said she would go over everything for the alternates next Friday, and that she calls and then emails alternates who have been accepted (so no call and no email means I haven't gotten a seat that's opened up) and that if you're not accepted by July 31st, you have to get your application in for Spring. But they might still have seats open after July 31st.

Just thought I would quick add this in for you alternates, if you go through and pay for everything like the drug test and backround check and Verified Credientials (you'll hear about that at orientation) and you don't get in for the Fall of 2016, you won't have to pay for anything again for the Spring of 2017, it all counts for a year. So if Wake Tech is where you want to go and you plan to apply again, it's not a total waste to do it this semester as an alternate-no matter your number! Just an FYI í ½í¸Š I paid for it all last semester and didn't get in but now this semester I have nothing else to pay for, so for me, it was worth it!

Unless something has majorly changed...in my orientation the determining factors for entrance into the program are: points and WHEN the application is turned in. So If I'm tied with someone and they turned their application in before me, they would get the spot, classes left have nothing to do with it.

1 (what I asked in the email) "Thanks can you tell me what you do with people who have the same amount of points, and how you determine who gets accepted and who is an alternate with the same amount of points?"

2 (what they replied with) "Honestly, we haven't had a tie before. If we did have a tie, the student who had met everything first would be given priority."

This was months ago though so idk, but now reading it its seems to me to be two people with 162 points, not really an alternate.

and I also emailed Beth about it she said

"If we have applicants for acceptance with the same points we do not accept and some and designate some as alternates. If we have more than one applicant with the same points who is an alternate we do use the date that minimum admission requirements were met."

If there are 35-40 alternates within an 11 point range (which I still don't believe) they have to have people who are tied. Also the minimum admission requirements are not the classes you take for points, its your pre-reqs...not co-reqs

Hi, I am actually new to this website, I have been lurking in the background just reading comments and advice. I just thought I would let you all know that I called Waketech campus today and was informed that they had sent out the letters to main campus today. They said we should be receiving our letter by the end of the week or beginning of next week. That totally sucks for me because I wont be back in the country on April 4 2016...

Hey Brecarmona,

Was wondering if you came back into the country yet? If so, we would love an update on the acceptance status.

Hey can you tell me how the orientation process goes? Like what takes 7-8 hours? Lol also I'm so happy you got in! Congrats

Sure! The orientation lasted untill about 3. We got done a little earlier then they said we would. They go over all the stuff you need to get done and by what dates, where to buy your books and which ones

you need. They tell you about the medication calculations test you take on the first day of school and the review session that's held before that. How you need to know how to do your CNA skills, uniforms, schedule for the first semester, clinical guidelines and rules, and then they have some current students talk to you and answer questions! I'm sure I'm missing stuff, but that's the general stuff they cover.

Also you get an hour for lunch. It seems like it's so long and honestly a lot of it is pretty boring! But I guess it's all stuff

you should know ha. I played on my phone a little I won't lie haha

Lol I bet your going to be like I already know all this, this time around. Thanks and did you retake any classes since last semester being an alternate or did you just take what you needed to have left for applying?

I just took the rest of the classes I needed, but it was only Developmental Psych and AP2. Also I realized I missed the first part of your response- I'm an alternate again this semester! Super annoying, but I'm hopeful my number is higher this time. I've already been accepted to my backup but I really want to go to WT!

Hi lindycelina, sorry if you've mentioned before and I missed it, how many points do you have for the fall? Do you plan to attend your backup school if for some reason WTCC doesn't work out, or will you apply again in July?
