Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Published

Hey Everyone,

I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?

22bebe, if you apply in the spring will you have some other classes you can add to your points? Hopefully the spring is lower; I'm crossing my fingers because I need it to be lower as well. With the ADN program becoming more competitive each semester, I'm starting to get worried. I wouldn't be surprised if the points for the spring and fall were pretty close. Still crossing my fingers for you this fall!

CN_2bRN...you were the one who was told there were 48 total alternates right?

i hate news that makes it seem impossible. I was really hopeful still, and that has me all stressed out now.

CN2bRN919 ---I could re-take a class during the summer, but I was not planning on it or even re-take the teas V. Do you think my points will be good enough for spring?

48 alternates and only 20 point diff IDK how they are spread out thats just what an advisor told me, because I wanted to know if it was worth my time spending $40 and like 6 hours at a orientation I wasnt going to get into.

Also about the whole tie thing because I asked about that too was if you are tied, the person who has completed the class/classes first has gets in. Like if I have 160 and all my classes done, and another person has 160 and still has one class I would get in.

22bebe, are you saying then that students who have all of their prerequisites done are going to rank higher than students who don't when their points are tied? So if a student has 160 points and one class left, is tied with another student who has 160 points and no classes left, the student with no classes left would get that seat? I am honestly not sure what to expect concerning points for spring semester anymore. I was thinking that 150/155 might be a good threshold, but now I'm thinking it may be higher? I mean for all I know it could be lower. So stressful. At this point I'm really just crossing my fingers that I can get a seat in the spring.

APeregoy, yes, I did talk with health science advising and they told me that there were 48 alternates for the ADN program. That is a weird spread… for most of those 48 to have between 160-151 points... but at this point I'm starting to think anything is possible. Definitely keep your head up because like I also said, not only were accepted students giving up seats, alternates were too!

If they're saying 35-40 within 11 points, that's not giving anyone below 150 a shot. That's barely giving anyone around what I have a shot. Almost everyone they accepted would have to not accept their seat since they only took sixty something. I've already paid and completed my background check so I'm going to sit through orientation just for the hope of a shot at a seat for fall.

CN_2bRN919 what points will you have when you apply in July? I'm going to take bio169 in the fall and hope for an A. After I finish these two electives I will have 134, so I need to retake teas and see what I get in 169. Also, did you download all those pages for the Cna class? I start Monday.

CN2bRN919 yea the one with the most/all classes completed gets priority. They might change that for the spring though I got an email months ago with changes for the program.

I guess I am a spring 2017 applicant now, I am so SICK of stressing over this fall semester term!

P.S if you need help with anp1/2 use quizlet it helped me a lot!

gotgifts3, depending on my current classes I'll have somewhere between 174-186. If I get two B's I'll have 174, two A's I'll have 186, a combination of an A and a B I'll have around 180. Right now I'm holding A's but we'll see about that after finals lol. After this semester all of my classes will be done. I've made A's in most except the sciences. I made B's in all my BIO's, so I am jealous of anyone who makes A's since those classes give you the most points. I'm so sick of stressing over points though. I'll more than likely to turn in my application after I take my CNA exam next month. That will officially mark the start of my summer!!

Wow!!! That is fantastic!!! You should be so proud of yourself. I got an A in bio168, but the professor was amazing. He wanted his students to succeed. I'm praying he comes back for fall. Who did you take for micro? I saw good reviews for Leverton. You should relax and enjoy your summer!! Did the teachers keep you for four hours every day for cna? I'm glad this semester is almost over then I can focus on the cna, and retake he teas. This is stressing me out.

Thanks gotgifts3! I would love to have gotten an A in Anatomy!! That's awesome!! I actually didn't take any prerequisites at Wake Tech aside from Developmental Psychology and Nutrition. I took most of my classes during undergrad. Since I didn't graduate too long ago, my classes haven't aged out. Unfortunately they do keep you all four hours during the CNA class because you have to have so many hours with the program. The only night they ever let us leave early was the very last night. But there's so information covers over the course of the night, the class will go by fast. Especially when you go to lab and start working on skills, and then later clinical... the class will fly by!

Hey guys.........everyone breathe! Inhale, exhale......I can't believe we're tripping out right now. I mean, I can believe it cause it makes me worry but when we've done our best and it still isn't enough it's bothersome to see the pressure this program will put in you under and we're not even in it yet. Working at Rex and these students are doing clinicals, I ask them everything. Half of them had D's and C's in Biology classes and guess what, they're in clinical sad we speak. I'm at 159 after its all said and done and that's lower then you all. You guys are making amazing grades right now and will be at an accepting number that was considered "acceptable" for this upcoming fall when you actually apply in Spring. That should say something alone. Let's finish this semester strong, pass those CNA classes and exams, summer classes, TEAS and rock out. Says the person whose been sitting here studying for 2 hours on the TEAS, lol

Lol I wouldn't be stressing if I was applying for Spring, but since I'm in this horrible grey area of having to pay and go through everything that accepted people are going through (like the 9-4 orientation) even though I STILL may not get to join them in the Fall is total torture. I will say once I'm in I will be totally comfortable...seeing the students we have at UNC makes me confident that I will do great, I just have to get in first.
