It’s a great program! I’d say before the semester starts to review some dose calculations, maybe find some practice questions online. The first semester is a whirlwind (when I was there, there were 16 tests in 18 weeks) so anything you can do to prepare will help! Even if you haven’t learned anything yet, practicing NCLEX questions will always be beneficial- or read tips on how to answer that type of question. RegisterednurseRN is a GREAT online resource and the girl on the site is SO good about breaking things down. Her site was a huge help all throughout the program. Read her notes and watch the lectures! I’m sure she has some videos about preparing for nursing school. The books the program tells you to buy are great, but also get some of your own NCLEX review books and practice the relevant questions before each test. Even if the questions aren’t the same as the ones on the test- practicing questions is HANDS DOWN the best way to prepare for a test. The teachers in the program are the bomb, and Dr. Smith the program director is the kindest/ smartest woman you will ever come across. If you are struggling at all go to her and she will always be willing to help. Good luck with everything and if you have more questions let me know!

Just checked my folder from last time. You don't get a detailed schedule of NUR 111, you get the general ADN course requirements like the one you can find on the schools website. You'll get access to the Gateway site during orientation and on the website there is a ton more info, and on there is the tentative weekly schedule for the NUR 111 class.

When you sign in they give you a folder and the first page in there is a breakdown of all your points with your alternate number on the top right corner! The folder has all the papers that they talk about during the orientation with info on books, the schedule for the day, physical forms etc. it's very organized! You walk in the door and there are tables set up based on your last name. You just tell them your name and they hand you your folder. Then your free to do what you want untill orientation starts. Definitely get there a little early!

I wore workout clothes last time lol people dressed all types of ways- lots like me and some people were dressed up. I just wanted to be comfortable for the super long day! And it was a different season last time but man was that room cold! Something to keep in mind. And good idea about the alternate status! I'll post mine as soon as I know :)

To be honest I'm not sure exactly how many points I had! I thought I had something really low but someone with 139 said they didn't get an alternate seat and I did, so I guess I had more then I thought. And yes I definitely plan to attend my backup if I don't get in! WT has a great program but honestly there are other schools out there that are just as good. I just want to be a nurse! I'd love to go to WT but the school I got into is basically just as good and the end result is the same- I become a nurse!

I just took the rest of the classes I needed, but it was only Developmental Psych and AP2. Also I realized I missed the first part of your response- I'm an alternate again this semester! Super annoying, but I'm hopeful my number is higher this time. I've already been accepted to my backup but I really want to go to WT!

Sure! The orientation lasted untill about 3. We got done a little earlier then they said we would. They go over all the stuff you need to get done and by what dates, where to buy your books and which ones you need. They tell you about the medication calculations test you take on the first day of school and the review session that's held before that. How you need to know how to do your CNA skills, uniforms, schedule for the first semester, clinical guidelines and rules, and then they have some current students talk to you and answer questions! I'm sure I'm missing stuff, but that's the general stuff they cover.
