Hey Everyone,
I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?
bgo26...how many points do you have right now? Hopefully with people already turning down their seats it will be good for both of us! I guess we'll know better in a couple of weeks. I think in the 2015 one I read that at first they only accepted a small number and then once the spring people who failed either decided to come back or not, they adjusted and added more seats. I was thinking there would be at least 80, but oh well. What kills me is for the 48 alternates there is only a 21 point difference, so getting in as an alternate is going to be pretty tough too. Still hopeful though! I wish I could just ask what number alternate I am!! It's stupid they don't tell you and make you wait until the orientation.
I am at 149 points right now, I think Micro would put me at 167 - 173? I've gotten nothing but A's and B's since coming to Wake Tech and taking education a bit more seriously. My previous school grades are crippling me a bit right now. Applying to spring is a possibility and I'm always weighing my options.
APeregoy I think they should have given us numbers as well. Even after we get our number there is a waiting period to see if you get in or not. I don't know how they do things for people who are currently taking classes... for instance, will I be higher than someone else with the same points because I'm taking the last course I need? I I will email Mrs.Watkins my concerns.
bgo26, I actually asked a similar question about points out of curiosity to one of the health science advisors. I was told that when people have the same points, they look to see who took certain classes first. Not sure what classes though. I think if one student took certain classes before another student, the student who took those certain classes first will have a higher ranking. It's also to my understanding that the points for classes that are in progress do not factor in at all. So if your "completed" points tie with someone they look at when those classes were completed to determine who ranks before the other. It all is a little confusing to me so definitely follow up with Ms. Watkins.
CN_RN2B919 I was talking about the people already in the program who failed out.
bgo26 I know last fall a couple alternates found out at orientation that they had gotten in, and then everyone else got their number and some found out a couple weeks later and some didn't find out until like the end of July. I think what they did before is accepted some from the new applicants and held seats for those that failed in case they wanted to come back...if they didn't, they would then open those seats to alternates. I know it goes by your points and if there's a tie, I know some schools use the date you applied or your gpa as the tie breaker but idk what wake does. I think I read where Mrs Watkins said they were hoping most alternates would get offered a seat since they already had some turn down their seats. I know they won't tell you your alternate number if you ask before orientation which sucks because all I want to do is ask lol
For some reason, I remember hearing about the date the application was submitted in regards to students with the same number of points. I'm really thinking if this Fall's cohort was 162-210 that's a span of 40 plus. If Spring is lower, I'm thinking 180-140, should be the points. Of course, that would be a dream come true!

bgo26 I feel the same way! I'm taking micro this summer, so if I had taken it in the fall, I would have been in too! I am really hoping that with people not going it's enough. I know on the fall that people who were 12 points shy as alternates got in...but of course that was a different year and they had more seats! I can't believe it's only 61.
