Hey Everyone,
I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?
APeregoy, I have a strong feeling you will get in. I read the 2015 fall thread too. You're the first person that came into my mind when I read the letter at 162 points knowing you're at 156. I know you will get in. :up:I can't wait to get enough points and apply this July! Gotta do well for A&P right now first.
Just a general question as I've never taken summer classes at Wake Tech. Does the school offer two summer sessions or just one? Has anyone taken summer classes before? And summer classes will count toward a spring application I'm pretty sure...?
I have taken BIO 155 for 10 weeks and Psy 241 for 5 weeks or 7wks? online (I think, I know it wasn't the entire 10 weeks, ), both for summer 2015. I was busy studying. I wasn't working but have a very active toddler to chase at home. I have classmates who took BIO 155 and BIO 168 during that summer. Im sure that was tough. In short, its a lot of studying but still very possible to get good grades.
CN_2bRN919 if you are testing at wake tech then you need to wait after your last day of class to register to take the NAACES, however, you do not have to wait if you would like to test elsewhere. One could finish the Wake Tech program and pass the CNA tests the next day if you scheduled ahead of time.
APeregoy I have confidence that you will be in the program. I'm crossing my fingers for you :) I am an alternate sitting at 149pts while I'm currently taking Micro. I was signed up for micro in the fall, but there was some issue with registration and it dropped me for whatever reason. Before I knew it, it was too late to correct the issue so you can imagine how I feel when I was practically guaranteed a spot if I finished Micro last year.
BTW... hello, forums :) I've been lurking this site for a while and figured it was the right time to actually register.
Hi 22bebe, if you start in the spring, it's spring/summer/fall/spring/fall. I'm sure a lot of the people who applied, applied to multiple programs! But choosing a community college over a university too could be financial since universities are a lot more expensive. Especially if you have the opportunity to go to a community college and pay for the nursing program completely out of pocket as opposed to taking out loans at a university. I'm not sure who mentioned in the thread where the alternates start, but I think it was 161-140?
Nice! Thanks for the tip bgo26! Registering for the exam was a little confusing for me so I finally had to call Pearson VUE to talk me through it. Luckily I was able to register the night that my class finished, but had to wait 12 days before I could test. The representative that I talked to at Pearson VUE told me the 12 days was a general rule, so they may have changed it. I was hoping to schedule my exam ahead of time (before my class ended), but was told that you could not register for the exam until after the class was over because the codes that you would need to register, Wake Tech would not provide until the last day of class. So I'm sure it depends on the program. Hoping I pass on the first try because I was also told if I didn't, I would have to wait 12 days out before I could test again. Fingers crossed!
gotgifts3, you may want to call and do some more research and see if you could take your CNA exam before the 7/31 deadline. Good luck to you!
Thanks for the info WSMom, CNA! Have you ever taken a math class over the summer-- online? I am considering that. I have taken some summer classes at other schools and lots of sciences over the summer, but never a math online. The math I took over the summer several summers ago was a seated course. I'm curious as to the work load if I took it online at WTCC. I was told by my advisor that WTCC is actually going to be changing the set up of summer classes starting this summer. She didn't give me details, but said that summer classes should be posted next week.

JPeters...the letter tells you if you're in, out, or an alternate. If you're an alternate or in, they give you the date and time of the orientation that you have to attend and they also give you the background check stuff that you have to do before the orientation. They also give you a list of immunizations so you know what they want, but say they will cover that part at orientation.
