Hey Everyone,
I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?
The 2016 spring was 170-246 only 140 people applied and they accepted 92/93 students it was the lowest points and lowest applicant pool they have ever had. I emailed Beth asking if they accepted students with a "C" and that semester they let in students with "D" grades. That's why I was so surprised at this semesters numbers being so high.
Could someone explain how they factor in people who failed out? So if someone is in the clinical phase and fails out of the program do they give that seat to someone on the alternate list? So in reality, alternates can get a seat from someone who was accepted and gave theirs up, another alternate who decided to go to another school, or someone who fails out of the program?
From what I understand (all numbers are hypothetical)...they know they can have 100 students in the fall. They accept 60 students and have 40 alternates. They have 30 students that did not pass Spring semester and 20 of them want back into the program, so they give them 20 of the seats they didn't fill. They still have 20 seats available and fill them with alternates. So 60 were accepted, 20 are returning, and 20 are from the alternate list.
Thanks for the info WSMom, CNA! Have you ever taken a math class over the summer-- online? I am considering that. I have taken some summer classes at other schools and lots of sciences over the summer, but never a math online. The math I took over the summer several summers ago was a seated course. I'm curious as to the work load if I took it online at WTCC. I was told by my advisor that WTCC is actually going to be changing the set up of summer classes starting this summer. She didn't give me details, but said that summer classes should be posted next week.
Haven't taken math during summer. Hmmm. I didn't know about the changes. I wonder what kind of changes they're talking about. I do plan to take micro this summer but not sure if online, seated or not at all and just take it in fall. It will really depend on my grades. If I get an A on BIO 169 and a B in eng 112. I will have 169 points, so those points should be enough right? Was there ever a case wherein the spring points were higher than the fall?
WSMom, CNA I think typically the spring is lower than the fall, but I am curious too! I was telling someone else that it'll be my luck that the semester I apply the spring is higher than the fall. Hoping that's not the case though. I'm thinking that as long as we have at least 150/155 we'll be fine, and if we have 162+ we'll slide in, but of course it all depends on who else applies. I have talked to several people outside of this forum who have around the 150's/160's. I vaguely remember you talking about studying for the TEAS. If you take the TEAS, you'll get some extra points too! I'm thinking you'll probably have more than enough points, and that's without micro!
Has anyone ever met the math requirement by taking the placement test, or has everyone pretty much taken a math class? I was thinking about taking the placement test just in case I had to reapply to the program (my math right now is valid but will expire if I don't get in by 2017). I know students have to score a certain score on the placement test for that to count as your math proficiency but was told it's hard to get that score. On modules 010-040 you have to get at least a 7 out of 12? Any advice?

I think someone posted on this thread or another that acceptance for spring 2016 was 182-214... it may have been 186. I can't remember.
