Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Published

Hey Everyone,

I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?

CN_2bRN919 I took the modules 010-040 during the summer last year. I couldn't get in to chemistry without it. The class is a work at your own pace. U can fly through the tests. It's a pass or fail. I had a great teacher that helped me. I finished 040 on the last day. I was sweating it. It had been like twenty years since high school. You can do it!!! I'm sure u would fly through it. Just make sure u register for the modules 010 and up.

So how does the placement test work? I was thinking you sit the test and if you make a certain score you place out of the math requirement for the ADN. I was thinking that modules 010-040 were sections of the placement test?

I believe I took my math about 2-3 years ago. After leaving e information session, I made sure after speaking with an advisor that my math would still be good. Has it been 5 years yet?

Also a question to you all. Would you guys suggest that I retake my PSY class in the summer for an A, received a B. I will apply after TESS with 159. Passing the psych class with an A would give me 165. Mrs Watkins said it wasn't worth my Wilde but for some reason I wa thinking that if anything could help me slide right in, I need to do it.

Hi Jpeters247, luckily my math has not expired yet. I took my math course in spring 2012 so it will not expire until spring 2017. I was told that if I applied no later than July 2016 my math would be valid. If I had to reapply because for some reason I didn't get in spring 2017, I would have to take a math course or have placement scores to meet the math requirement. Just wanted to cover all my bases, so I was debating possibly picking up a math class or taking the placement test this summer. But also thinking it may be a waste of money since the points I have may get me in and I may not have to reapply. Not sure what the best decision is... any advice?

If you take the placement test then you don't have to take the modules. I think you are getting in!! I'm praying hard for you.

Thank you for that gotgifts3, I'm praying too! So I'm still a little confused. So if you take the placement test and achieve a certain score then your math requirement is completed.. but if you don't score that specific score you have to do the modules? I guess I'm just confused as to why I was told that you had to score at least a 7 out of 12 on modules 010-040 since if you make a specific score on the placement test you wouldn't have to take the modules...?

Are you referring to Compass, SAT or Accuplacer? I took Accuplacer test in November 2014. I passed all math requirement so I didn't have to take any math class (thank God). I remember being nervous since the last time I was in school was decades ago. I scored 7's and 8's on Math 010 - 040 but there were also some questions from 050 and 060. Didn't you score well in TEAS? how was your math result? If you did well, I think you'll be fine. I bought "Bob Millers Math for the Accuplacer" and I have never understood math so well in my life. I highly recommend that book!

Yes. Just like in TEAS. You will take it for at least 3 hours. Make sure you double check your result and your name. When I went to get my results, they told me that I have to take math classes because my scores didn't qualify, then he was so quick to explain that I shouldn't worry, some students have to do it, blah blah, then gave me a form or something. My gut tells me that they made a mistake so I asked to take a look at the results once again and there it was, the second page was mixed up with another student's result! He told the girl before me (who already left by the way) that she didn't have to take any math! oh boy. Anyways, Good luck! Im sure you will pass.

APeregoy I have confidence that you will be in the program. I'm crossing my fingers for you :) I am an alternate sitting at 149pts while I'm currently taking Micro. I was signed up for micro in the fall, but there was some issue with registration and it dropped me for whatever reason. Before I knew it, it was too late to correct the issue so you can imagine how I feel when I was practically guaranteed a spot if I finished Micro last year.

BTW... hello, forums :) I've been lurking this site for a while and figured it was the right time to actually register.

Hello and welcome to allnurses.com!

WSMom, CNA I was referring to the Accuplacer. I didn't realize there were multiple tests. I'm glad you brought that up. Is the Accuplacer only a math test, or does it include other subjects like English, Reading etc? I did well on my math section of the TEAS, but of course I'm still curious as to what to expect. Just want to know if it's even worth my wild to take the exam this summer, or if I should wait until after September to decide. How often do they give the exam, and how long is the testing period?

I am going to be 37 this year. I took my CNA class last fall 2014 and enrolled at wake tech in spring 2015. I took up communication arts from another country and none of my college credits was accredited (I didn't have time to go through international accreditation). I did submit my high school transcripts though and didn't have to take GRE. So, I guess I am considered a first degree student. I may be 37 but I feel 25! lol. Thats all that matters.

Yes. There are different tests but any of these three placement tests are valid. I think you can choose to take just the math part. I had to take the reading, english and math parts since I am considered a first degree student or maybe because my transcript was from another country. Anyway, i remember taking the test for 3 hours. They have tests everyday.
