Fall 2016 Wake Tech Applicants

Published

Hey Everyone,

I'm not new to this site, just new to actually joining and posting my own story since I myself am finally able to began the application process of applying to Wake Tech next Fall. Anyone else out there applying?

My class is April 11 to July 25. It's three days a week from 6 to 10 at night. I think after I pass that test I will feel so much more confident. Good luck on your exam!!!

Who is your instructor gotgifts3? I was thinking you were applying in the spring... so it sounds like you're applying in the fall?

My instructors are Eley/Smith/Burns-Johnny. At least that's what is beside my confirmation. When you finish your last class do you take your exam that day? I assumed if I finished by 7/25 I could apply by 7/31 for spring. Ugghh. I'm never going to finish.

Those were my instructors and they were great! They definitely make you feel prepared for the exam! Two of them actually proctor the skills part of the state exam. Of course when you take the actual exam you won't have them as a proctor since they taught you, but they know how to prep you for the exam because they know what skills most students miss. Actually after the class is over, you have to sign up to take the exam on your own time. The actual exam is not included in the class... the class just gives you the "authorization" to sit for the exam. You have to wait 12 days after your last day of the class to test. You can sign up as soon as you want, but the earliest you'd be able to test based of your last day of class would be 8/6, or any day after.

I talked with health science advising and inquired about the number of accepted students as well as the number of alternates for fall 2016. I was told that there were 61 seats for the program and there are 48 alternates. Some people who were offered seats have declined as well as some who were on the alternate list so they are hoping many alternates will get a seat.

I'm really disappointed I can't apply until fall. I'm trying to time this while I still receive child support. This is going to mess me up. I guess I will finish AP2 and micro so I can get the most possible points. I bet you can't wait to start CN_2bRN919!!! I wish you the absolute best!!!

Wow only 61 seats!!! That's the lowest they have ever had. This spring I was told they had 93 seats. I bet a lot of people failed and they gave them spots for this semester because this spring was the most they accepted and the lowest points they ever had. But I would think when more people apply (fall) they should have more seats.

22bebe, wow that's a lot of seats! 93 for the program? I didn't know they had enough clinical availability to offer that many seats. I thought that most semesters it stayed around 70 seats. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. But I do know that even though they predict how many seats they might have, they have to verify if they have the space with the places we would be doing clinicals. So if the clinical facilities can not offer as much space, they probably decease the number of seats. The points probably seemed lower because the scale is different due to the change in the TEAS.

Yea i was surprised also when they told me that. So I was hoping they had atleast 75/85 seats for fall but I guess not. One note though is that before you get to go to clinical I think that atleast 5-10 students don't make it, or fail out so that may be why they could have done that. I really am not sure, I wish we could all get in because out of 70-80 students begin and only 30-40 actually graduate the program.

I'm not sure if this is good or bad, lol. Good for the alternates that were on this post, I believe there's like two. With that being said, alternates should move right on up and in the program if not a lot of people accepted. Gosh what does this say for upcoming Spring. Can't wait to get this over with and submit everything.

Does anyone know when alternates get their letters and or seated students, is it just a letter and or a bunch of things to complete before orientation?

Jpeters247, I asked if the seats in the fall had any effect on the seats in the spring (specifically if it decreased the seats available) and it is my understanding they do not. They said that typically the pool of applicants is smaller in the spring than the fall, and of course the points range is more broad and not as competitive.

CN-2bRN919...did you speak to Mrs. Watkins about the seats for Fall? She said that they had already had accepted people turn down seats AND had alternates for fall turn down seats?! I want to make sure I read that right...because I'm an alternate PRAYING enough people don't go so that I can have their seat! I'm *thinking* I should be kinda high on the list since I was only 6 points shy...so I'm keeping my hopes up!
