Fall 2017:UT Health Science Center Houston

Published

Hi all!

Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...

Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54

Science GPA: 3.67

HESI: 87.7

Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. :( I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.

Nothing yet

Has anyone heard back about admissions for Fall 2017 start?
Has anyone heard back about admissions for Fall 2017 start?

No. When the summer application period closed January 15th we didn't hear anything until February 24th when acceptances went out ! They said we would hear for summer in April so they were two months early....So if fall closed march 15, maybe we will hear towards the end of this month and be two months early since they said they'd notify by June ???????

I know in previous semesters they have not done evals on every applicant. Some people even received their evals after they started which is kinda funny/ironic. Some semesters they've only sent evals to people who have courses in progress. It seems kind of hit or miss if they send them out and who they send them to.

Has anyone else received a transcript evaluation yet? I don't know if they're really sending them out like they used to. I'm still waiting to see if I need to take stat over the summer or if my econ stat course will qualify. I tried calling early last week and left a message, but I haven't heard anything back.

Ok. This is something that has been bugging the hell out of me. I called a couple days ago to verify they received my updated transcript and asked the registrar about transcript evals. She verified that not everyone gets one. I asked if there were black and white criteria for who did and who did not and she just said no, there is no black and white answer. Then, she just sort of left me hanging like that was the end of her response. Very shaky answer, if you can even call it that.

One piece of good news I got though was that they accepted my updated transcript after the deadline, even though that directly contradicts what was said at the info session. I'll take it.

Okay so I got a transcript eval and it says that I need Engl II. I am currently enrolled in Engl II so do I need to tell them or will I be okay if I just send them a final transcript if I am accepted?

You are fine as long as you have it done prior to the offical start.

For now, you don't need to tell UTHealth anything. Just send them the final transcript once your final grade is inputted by the institution you're taking the class at. The eval is pretty much our reference to see where we stand with pre-reqs that will transfer. :)

Do you think that if we don't get transcript evals that all pre-reqs, that are mandatory, are transferred?

@crossed_fingers Hmm, I'm not 100% sure that is the case. I would attempt to contact them if you're worried something may not have transferred but if you know you've taken all the courses they require, I think you're good.

I believe the people receiving transcript evals have a class pending or a class was not transferred.

Hey ya'll!

I'm new to this thread. Pleasure to meet all of my future nurse colleagues!

I just wanted to see what ya'll thought of my stats. I am definitely nervous. After going through all of the previous threads there really is not concrete formula as to who gets in and who doesn't.

I have a Bachelors in Psychology. But from what I understand they don't consider that anymore than someone who doesn't have a previous degree. I

have completed all of my pre-requisite (from what I understand. But not everyone gets a transcript eval so who knows!)

My GPA's:

Science: 3.87

Pre-req: 3.5-ish

Cumulative GPA from 200+ hours is like: 3.14 maybe? But do they even look at that? I've been told multiple things.

HESI

Reading - 92

Math - 98

Vocab - 96

A&P - 80 (eek)

Grammar - 94

Overall - 92

I get most of my information from these forums because the people who work at UT Health seem to not want to answer phones, respond to voicemails/emails, or enjoy their job.

Anyways, you guys are wonderful and we are all going to get in! YAY!

I'm taking my last 3 classes (non-science) needed for my transcript. I already sent in my transcript and it says pending. Still haven't received a transcript eval yet.... So at this point should I call them?
