Hi all!
Thought I would start a thread for the fall semester! Anyone who wants to share their stats or anything about the application process can post them here! My stats as of now...
Pre-nursing GPA: 3.54
Science GPA: 3.67
HESI: 87.7
Pretty worried that my stats aren't good enough. Scored low on the A&P section of the HESI (80%) but made an A in the class...hoping maybe that will help even it out? I get discourage when I read through the other threads and see people get rejected with 4.0 GPA's and 90s on the HESI. I do have 80 volunteering hours at a children's hospital but I doubt that would help me enough.
Hi Mermaid_ ,Do you mind sharing your stats for when you applied? Good luck!!!
Ofcourse !
stats
pre req gpa 3.78
nursing gpa 3.74
10 years healthcare experience (For some reason I feel this plays some role..why would they ask us to list our jobs?)
HESI overall 90%
hesi a&p scores 92%- math 96%- reading 92%- vocab 86%- grammar 84%
I over studied the a&p and math sections and did not study for the english portion. It shows haha these are my scores though for getting waitlisted for the summer!
Hi yall!
Do yall happen to know if I can still use the UT code to register for the HESI if I plan on taking it during the summer? When I log on to Elsevier and click on register for distance testing, it asks for the school's code. However when I enter it the only options for taking the HESI are "HESI A2 V1: 01/01/17- 3/31/17" and "HESI A2 V2: 01/01/17-3/31/17".
Hey everybody what do you guys think about UTMB vs. UTHSC Houston? I know the commute is a huge factor but I'm from N Texas and will have to move anyway so besides that which one do you guys think is better? Lets say some freak clerical error happens and I get into both what makes UTHSC better than UTMB or vice versa?
June is crazy late UTMB will start giving out acceptances in a couple of weeks bc the deadline was sooner and I'm still torn between the two schools.
Both schools are AMAZING. But I would have to say that UTHSC is better known for not only its program but for the high graduation and NCLEX pass rate. It is known as one of the top nursing schools in the nation. Of course, UTMB is also a great school but for the most part I think UTHSC is definitely superior.

Hi EM_D11
The school code will remain the same even for the summer session. Try again after March 31st when they post the new tests dates. Also if you are using the UT school code make sure you select the HESI A2 V1. The school prefers you take this version of the test first and take the other one second (If needed)

Hi Woodwatch11,
Both schools offer great nursing programs. I went to UTMB's orientation and I loved it! The staff was friendly and personable and they seemed willing to help the students. I did not get the same feeling from UT Health. One thing that I liked about the UTMB is that they start clinicals right a few weeks into the program so you get that much more experience. Where as UT Health the clinicals begin in the last semester. UTMB has a richer history too ... it was the first nursing school west of the Mississippi river and has been around for more than 100 years. They have the highest NCLEX passing rate in Texas , even higher than UT Health (from what they said). One thing i dont like about UTMB is their application process doesnt seem as straight forward as UT Health.
