Fall 2014- Traditional BSN

Published

I was just accepted to UTA as a student and just filled out the application for the traditional BSN program. I'm kind of worried that my stats might not be so great and wanted to see if anyone else has applied?

3.5 Science GPA

3.66 Overall

92 HESI

I am not partnered and I hadn't heard about that before I was on this site. I work full time in a non healthcare field.

I still need to take the three prerequisite classes (Pharmacology, Pathophysiologic Processes, Intro to Professional Nursing) at UTA, as well as Technical Writing, American History I, Texas Government, and College Algebra which should raise my overall GPA.

Any advice/ anyone else applying for Fall 2014?

yes it does. It says that we receive that to be allowed to make an appointment. but i haven't received anything.

Ok good, because I haven't either. ;)

I think you may have put your social security number anddate of birth on your waitlist confirmation letter (this was info for the BON to do their thing). Does that sound right?

that makes sense. I sent an email to the person in charge of the background checks and she said that they are still waiting on the conformations for the BON!

oops, sorry utabsnhopeful. I didn't see your post from before. Well, now that we got that straightened out...

The applicants who were accepted also had to go to the GroupOne website and pay for a background check. The only thing that makes sense to me about why you guys don't have to do it, is it may be a quick and dirty method of weeding out the bad seeds since the BON background check takes so long. Maybe they have us do this so they can have plenty of time to call people off the waitlist.

i asked the person about the group one thing to see if we also needed to get it done...im waiting for her to reply.

Or maybe you'll have to do it if and when you get called off the waitlist...

Maybe they don't want you to have to pay for anything until you've been accepted...

That also makes sense. I tend to over-analyze.

lol. it's okay. that's a good thing. i hadn't really thought about because i didnt think i had a chance of getting called...but now that i see the posts about the dean, i thought i would look at the email to see what i needed to do.

I went to the early info session and the assistant dean said about 40ish were on the waitlist and she would start calling them off after graduation.

I'm glad she actually gave you a number!! :)

If anyone is reading this and DID get accepted, and/or know of others that did, posting your/their stats might be helpful for those of that are still waiting :) maybe it will give us an idea of how close we were/are to making it!

I know-

one guy that was accepted with a 3.5 science, 3.8 overall, 2 considerations

Also, just to get a few of you as mad as i was when i found this out: I know a guy who is currently in patho w/ me, who got in w/ a 3.1!!! He changed his major this semester (had to drop out of pharm) so I don't think he's taking the spot, but supposedly UTA makes an effort to keep a certain percentage of males?? Not sure how true that is. But if he got in w/ that, then...

A girl in my intro class got in with 4.0 & 4.0 with 0 considerations. Another girl in that class got waitlisted with a 4.0 & 3.8 with 0 considerations.

That's so close!! Surely she's like #1 on the list, haha
