  1. Ahh! That sounds so exciting! What's your favorite so far?? I'm entering school with L&D and OR as my favs, but who knows...I might end up liking something totally different. I'm thinking about nurse teching in the two off-summers. Sounds like a good way to gain confidence, experience, connections, and make a little $$ at the same time. Another question, do you recommend buying the package of books at the bookstore or buying them cheaper online? I read that it's supposedly cheaper to buy the package, but that source might be inclined to advertise for the bookstore. Do the teachers require the access codes for online homework, etc? It would be a shame to spend a ton of money on something that I won't end up needing or using.
  2. Mine does exactly the same thing! I've never really had a good advisor in all my college experience. ...and I've been to two universities and three community colleges...
  3. Thanks so much! It's all so exciting! Where all did they send you for clinicals? I really, really want to experience the OR and L&D before I graduate! Also, did you ever try to get a job as a nurse tech?
  4. I emailed H.Woods about that and she said they would send the email sometime this month. I assume that we take care of it online. Idk though.
  5. I will be starting the on-campus nursing program at UTA in January. I'm so excited! I just can't wait until the orientation to learn all about the specifics of UTA's nursing school. There are a million questions bouncing around in my soon-to-be cluttered mind! Do they require a certain brand of scrubs, shoes, etc? I noticed that the bookstore does sell the navy scrubs. Do they have to be purchased there? Where are the nursing kits sold? The bookstore employees had no idea what I was talking about when I asked. Is UTA the best place to do the BLS certification? What clinical settings do they send their nursing students into? What is capstone? What teachers are the best to run to for support? What teachers are best to avoid? Are there any hidden places on campus that are comfortable and quiet to study? What are the best places to get a group together to study?
  6. The UTA bookstore has them. You can probably order them from their website.
  7. I'm not sure how to do that. I'm a little confused on how to post in specific forums. Yeah they will probably in the online orientation that opens up at the beginning of November. I just wanted to ease into it financially. Haha. Plus that Kohl's cash expired Sunday. I went ahead and bought some shoes anyway. I read the bsn handbook on UTA's website and I think they should be acceptable. That's a great idea! The library in my area just got an engraver that members can use for free!! I found a gold pair of nursing scissors at a scrubs/medical supply shop near campus that I am itching to go purchase. I think that a pair might come in the nursing kit though. Thanks for the tip! I looked at their website and I'm totally going to make a trip over there! Are there any nursing gadgets that you recommend that aren't required?
  8. I was just accepted to the nursing school at the University of Texas at Arlington!! Now the fun of shopping for nursing supplies begins! I want to get a jump on purchasing stuff for nursing school. What kind of shoes and scrubs does UTA want the nursing students to buy? I have some Kohls cash that I want to use toward the shoes, but I'm not sure what kind to buy. Also, what kind of stethoscope do you recommend?? Where's the cheapest, best place to get the BLS certification?
  9. At the meeting, she said they were going to wait a week to get all the responses in and call those that they didn't hear from. Then they're going to start calling the following week.
  10. I got waitlisted for the ap program. I'm accepting the on campus offer though so it's ok. We should try to get together for a celebratory dinner thing to get to know each other a little!
  11. Does the AP program graduate the same time as the on campus program?
  12. I got the email! I'm in!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!
