Fall 2014 SSC/UCF Concurrent Program

Published

Alright, I know it's early but...who is planning on applying to the Fall 2014 SSC/UCF Concurrent program? I just finished my prerequisites today and I'm so excited to get going. I am planning on taking the TEAS for the first time in January so hopefully I'll do well.

One question I have is what should I do during the spring semester? I completed my AA degree as of today but unfortunately, my family kind of relies on my FA money to get by. I'm wondering if there is an AS degree I can enroll in so that I'm still eligible for FA until the nursing program starts. I saw something for Health Information Technology that might work. Anyway, just thought I'd see who else is applying and if anyone else is in the same financial situation as me.

I hope to get to know some of you soon!

They definitely told me to put the number next to my name when I dropped mine off. Maybe that person forgot to inform you of that.

Oh No! They just told me to fill out the sheet.. I hope its ok.. Great! something else to fret over!

Give them a call and find out if you can go to the campus you dropped it off at and fix it. Today's the last day so at least you've got a little time. If you're concerned about it, it's worth the time. But if they're passing out wrong info it must not be the absolute end of the world if you don't have it on there.

I work fairly close to the Altamonte campus so I stopped by and asked. She said that you only needed your name on the outside on the envelope.. There were 154 names on the list

Interesting. Yeah I guess the numbers don't matter so much then. That's good. 154? Wow. I wonder how many are concurrent applications...

Awesome stats! I think you have a great chance! I'm not sure which gpa they look at? The pre reqs? Or overall? For the SSC pre req (the one from the actual SSC application) I have a 3.5 GPA, 91 on the TEAS, and finished classes fall 2013.[/quote']

Thank you! You look like you're in good shape too. I'm guessing they focus mainly on the recalculated GPA because they didn't ask for our overall GPA anywhere.

Hi all ...I'm really glad to have found this board. The suspense and anxiety can be a little overwhelming; it's a little reassuring to know so many others are also feeling this way and going through the same things. :)

I applied for the fall concurrent program. I'm especially anxious about my TEAS score. I only got an 83.3

I'm really impressed with those who got a 90 or above. Bravo!

My overall gpa is 3.9 and my adjusted pre-req gpa is 4.0; I'm hoping that helps salvage my lower TEAS score.

Best of luck to everyone!!!

Hi! Nice to "meet" you! Your GPA is great even if your TEAS score isn't as high as you'd like it. Someone recently said that they thought they ranked GPAs as more important than TEAS scores so maybe that will work in your favor.

I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone more over the coming months!

Those are awesome stats too! Good job on the GPA! So far it sounds like everyone on here is in good shape and hopefully we will all get in together! Btw, what is recalculated GPA? Like overall GPA or pre req GPA? And yes, I've heard that GPA comes first, then TEAS...but that was from another student not a primary source :)

I know that the amount of applications turned into the Oviedo campus were in the 80's

Recalculated GPA is your pre req GPA. I heard that UCF mainly considers overall and science GPA from a Pre-Nursing Association meeting. We have guest speakers come in from UCF's nursing program, and so far they have all seemed to agree that GPA is given more weight in the decision making process than TEAS scores, although obviously both are important. I'd imagine that Seminole is similar.

Thanks Lizzy10! I've heard about the science GPA calculation, I wish SSC would take a separate science GPA into consideration as well. 80 applications at the Oviedo campus is a lot! Maybe all of the UCF students waiting to hear back from the Basic program applied as well? I also wonder if the concurrent program will let us who have already had our LiveScan background done use it so we (UCF students) don't have to pay twice?

I know a lot of people who applied to both programs and I wouldn't be surprised if most of UCF's Basic program applicants also applied to the concurrent. (Fingers crossed that they didn't!) It would be so nice if we could use the background check that we had completed! Those really add up to a lot of money..
