Fall 2018 Miami Dade College

Updated:   Published

Starting this thread for anyone that have questions or concerns about the 2018 fall nursing program at Miami Dade College. I have a 4.0 science gpa and studying to take the hesi by the end of February. I also plan on applying for the generic full time as well as the accelerated program because I'm not sure which one I want yet. I already have a bachelors from FIU and I literally started all the prerequisites the summer of 2017. If anywho took those sequences can you please share your stories? Pro and con.. And also what is the hesi like!

Hello emart265, how long were you preparing for the Hesi and what is your gpa?

Just took the HESI advice do a ton of practice tests know your conversions ratios and percentages for anatomy know your joints chem and bio were very basic and lots of which word is incorrect in the sentence for grammar good luck if anyone is taking it soon

I prepared for about 3 months my gpa is 3.8 science and I got a 91%on the HESI

Excellent!

I believe you have a 92 competitive score which put you in a very high chance to get into the program.

Congrats!

Thanks!!!!! I really hope I can get in....what is that competitive score thing? How do you calculate that?!

According to other posts, the competitive score is what will define the people who is going into tbe program. It is the combination of your science GPA and the Hesi score. The GPA is multiple by 10, and the Hesi is multiply by 0.6. Then add the 2 results and that is your competitive score.

Awesome congrats. Did you have any troubles transferring credits from your bachelor degree to mdc? I took microbiology 2000 at a university but MDC has the mcb2010.

Hello Everyone! I'm excited to have found this forum. I see mostly everyone has applied to the generic full time/part time. As well as the accelerated. I applied to the bridge full time program. Is there anyone else on here that has applied to the bridge?

I was wondering how you all figured out your competitive score? I have a 3.5 science gpa and I scored an 82 on the hesi. I already submitted my application. Now to wait until June, complete torture!

hello nursemeech, your comptetive score is 84 if your gpa is accurate at 3.5. The only concern that we all have is that we dont really know what the average competitive score is. however, I see that you've applied for the accelerated program. I think you might have a good chance there. I have a friend who had applied with a lower score than yours last semester and she got accepted to the accelerated program.

good luck!

I took the HESI a little over a month ago and scored an 86 and I have a 4.0 gpa in all of my classes including my sciences. I am retaking it tomorrow to hopefully score higher than 90. It's pretty easy, I just didn't study before taking it and now know what to expect for my second try. I hope I get in!

Hello Francely03, you have a 91 competitive score which is very high, but good luck on your test tomorrow. I heard that the test the second tie is not the same and usually a little harder. hopefully you can tell us if that is true or not.

Good luck again.

Hi francely03 and everyone, just remember today is the last day to apply!! Now the long wait begins. Good Luck to all!!
