Fall 2018 Miami Dade College

Updated:   Published

Starting this thread for anyone that have questions or concerns about the 2018 fall nursing program at Miami Dade College. I have a 4.0 science gpa and studying to take the hesi by the end of February. I also plan on applying for the generic full time as well as the accelerated program because I'm not sure which one I want yet. I already have a bachelors from FIU and I literally started all the prerequisites the summer of 2017. If anywho took those sequences can you please share your stories? Pro and con.. And also what is the hesi like!

the competitive score is the science GPA x 10 and the HESI score x .60.... yours would be 94% (4.0 x 10=40 , 90 x .60= 54, 54 + 40=94 )

yes it's the one from school but i had the 3rd edition, now they're selling the 4th edition... I was given the book by a friend back in the summer. I compared them and there's no major difference from what I could tell. I'm sure the 3rd or 4th works just fine.

Hi my name is Lina and I currently have a 3.8 GPA although I'm missing my grades for A&P 2 and microbiology. I'm scheduled to take the hesi March 28th and I'm super nervous for the chem and bio.

I'll be applying for the full-time and part-time generic. I'm looking forward to seeing all of you in nursing school.

Wow you're my hero! I don't work but I have a 2 year old and a 5 month old and I can barely find time to study.

Also does anyone know if you take the hesi 2 times do they take the highest score or the most recent?

Hi, new here and I am taking the Hesi this coming week. I have a friend who is working full time and he is in the Generic FT program ( second semester already) and he says it is doable to work and study. Go figure!

Hi everyone, Jimnurse75. Good Luck on your HESI. I took mine already and did pretty well:88. I would recommend everyone to study ahead. I did not have enough time and practically burned the Pocket Prep app to prepare. I used the review book from Evolve and pocket prep. The also provide two free tests at Evolve once you register for test, I used those too. I have been wondering too if one can work while in the nursing program. I will probably stop working when I start until I get an idead of how much time I really have to work.

Hi everyone!

I am taking the Hesi on Thursday 3/15. My science gpa is a 2.9. It's not the best. Any advice on taking the hesi?!

I am stressing and scared.

Good luck everyone!

I believe that they take the highest score

Hello! My name is Jason and I submitted my application few weeks ago. I applied only for the generic Part-time program.

My prerequisite GPA is 3.82 and HESI 94.

Nice to meet you all!

Does anyone know any way to get around the Intro to Health Care requirement? I have been looking all over and it looks like MDC is the only place to take that specific class. I dont live in the area but was hoping to move down there for Nursing School. Is there anyone who knows about getting credit for that for another course?? I am hoping to not have to move there just to take the class before I can even apply to the program.

There is a way not to take this class... I did not take the intro to health care class because I have the cna license... So if you have a license in health care field like cna, lpn, or medical assistant you don't have to take this class í ½í¸Š... hopefully my answer hepls
