Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

Pharm isn't even required prior to entering the program so I don't see how they can dismiss people for not knowing yet....
I did hear that they give a dosage test at orientation but it’s to win a free lab skill bag!

In other news, I thought I read somewhere that Montgomery gives a dosage calculations test during orientation and that you're dismissed from the program if you do not pass. Can anyone confirm this or has anyone heard the something similar? If so, then we can add studying for that to the list of things we should be doing while we wait. ?
Montgomery gave us a take-home PRACTICE test during orientation to prepare for the actual dosage calculation exam. They will not teach you dosage calculations. That is on you to learn. It was a part of my pharm class which I took during the summer before starting. They will tell you at orientation when the real must-pass exam is and for us it was week 1 or 2 of the semester, I think. You will actually have a must-pass dosage exam at the start of EVERY semester and we currently have 3 chances to pass. If you fail all 3, you will get withdrawn from the program. You will also have dosage calculations on every lecture exam. If you miss any dosage calculations on the exams you have extra work to do and turn in.

Thank you so much for clarifying! That makes me less nervous.
lol I'm nervous about a hypothetical test in a program that I'm not even sure I'm going to be in! ?♀️ This wait is killer!
Guys that lab bag will be drawn out of a bowl. You guys won't get a practice quiz until student/family night which is 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the semester. Orientation is strictly them going over the booklist, scrubs, program rules, and the drug test. I advise you guys to really take this time to brush up on your A & P since it is the foundational basis of nursing BUT also relax and enjoy the time you have off because this is no easy ride and you will get burnt out. The first dosage calculation test won't be until the second week of school and it's basic and pretty much deals with ratio proportions and conversions. You guys will have PLENTY of time to study.. they're not gonna hang you guys to dry they walk you through many things. There will be a math review and practice tests that are EXACT to the actual test. It's fairly easy but gets a bit tougher as the semesters progress. Also, I wouldn't purchase anything yet because there's a lot that comes in your $200 lab bag and most of it you won't get to put to use. We are officially done with lab and most people will be donating what they didn't use to you guys. You only have lab the first 2 semesters and then it's over.
