Fall 2019 Lonestar Hopefuls

Published

Hey everybody. I'm not sure if it's too early but I'm making this page for anybody who is applying to the nursing program at Lonestar College for the Fall of 2019. Looks like Montgomery, Cyfair, and North Harris have applications from Jan 7-April 12. Good luck to everyone!

How many student again are being accepted at Cyfair?

I believe each school accepts about 50 and NH takes 120

I think Montgomery only takes 40

On another note! Has anyone started working on their BLS certification or vaccinations?

I went ahead and scheduled the fingerprint background check since I received the email. ?

Isn’t the BLS like a one day thing? My husband said I should start on that and vaccinations because he’s so sure I got in lol Talk about support! But I’m gonna hold off a little longer on the vaccines and start looking into the BLS

Yeah from my understanding it's a 2-3 hour long course! I'm looking to get my certification sometime in June. Since it's something we're gonna need for our entire career I don't mind getting it done early. Gonna hold off vaccines for now as well since I'm not made out of money. ?

I completed my fingerprinting at IdentoGo (MorphoTrust) as well and am waiting to hear something from the school before I schedule my BLS certification and vaccinations. I don't want to do something unnecessary or superfluous without the requirements spelled out for me like exactly which programs are approved etc. I am looking at stethoscopes as well but the options are a bit overwhelming and I don't know what to look out for as far as the most helpful features (i.e. zinc vs. other metals). I am currently waiting to hear if I will receive another scholarship this semester so that I can make sure my funds are in order efficiently.

I’m afraid of having hearing loss due to stethoscopes so if you see a good one please share ?

Hopefully our list is saved some where.? I love talking with y’all. You’re the only ones that understand what I’m going through right now. I can’t wait to meet some of you. ??

I will save as much info as I can onto a word document just in case ? We were spared a tornado today physically, but not spiritually. I am grateful to have my electricity back on and my kids safe with me after all the drama of the weather today. The school nurses in my area were overwhelmed and I sent my empathy and respect to them and will follow up next week with a thank you of some kind to show my gratitude. They went through what we are now and made me consider perhaps becoming a school nurse in the future.

Master cardiology by Littmann is an excellent one.

Yes I agree! My insurance covers vaccines but not titers. And even then I gotta take into consideration how long the vaccines are good for, etc. And BLS you have to renew how often?

I actually just do just did bls class yesterday for the lvn checklist ... it’s a pretty basic 2-3 class ... nothing hard about it ... take a test at the end and it’s good for two years i believe ... I’m going to use all my information for th RN checklist (if i get in ??)
