Fall 2018 Lone Star Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone, just wanted to start a Fall 2018 page for Lone Star ADN/LVN future students!

Cyfair allowed me to register but i am currently taking professor Noeller at north harris

I see, thank you. How Is the class with that professor so far?

I heard you have to get approval to take Pharmacology, is that true or can you take it without?

For the Summer online Kingwood Pharm classes is says "This class requires department consent" and gives an email on who to contact. That's what I did.

She is sweet! I have a 97 in the class trying to finish strong...lol

Specializes in Psychiatric nurse.

Hello, does anyone know where Cyfair does their clinicals?

Does anyone know what the Kingwood night program hours are?

i think its like Mon and Tues 5-7 and you can choose a weekday or a Saturday for clinicals.

YEA I have 2 finals on the 10th??? did you talk to them to see what we are supposed to do?

does anyone else have finals on the day of mandatory orientation at north harris?

@accionursingbook

I decided to drop my in person Pharm and register for Sarah Hirsch online. Just waiting for approval now. I've heard it's easier online and I really don't feel like taking it in person lol. Hopefully she's not too bad!

Awesome! Yeah I've heard it's worth it to just take Pharm online!

I'm also looking into CNA or PCT certification for the summer, but I've emailed 3 different people at Lone star and no one will email me back. So I'm gonna go in person to an advisor soon.

I have my CNA certification! I've heard from other nurses that in the first semester of nursing school, your clinicals are in a LTC facility and you learn exactly what you learn in a CNA course, except you can give out meds and CNAs can't.

After the first semester, lots of nursing students go work as CNAs or pcas.

The PCT certificate takes months to complete.

Yeah my original plan was to wait til after the first semester, but I'm pulling my name from the alternate pool and won't be applying to nursing school again until next year. So I'd like to get some patient care hours in the meantime.

So you're suggesting just doing CNA cert.? I just wanna be able to work in a hospital eventually and didn't know if they preferred PCT over CNA.

I already have a castle branch account from applying to sanjac last semester. Does anyone know how I can transfer the information to Lone Star?
