Fall 2020 El Centro Nursing Program Applicants

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to start a new thread for Fall 2020 applicants at El Centro, since I didn't find one already here. Let's see if we can help eachother out and answer some questions for eachother. Currently, I have 35 points, but will be applying with about 40, I believe. I'm wondering if that is competitive? Also, I need to get my physical, titers, and vaccines, but don't have health insurance. Any ideas where I can get them done at a decent price? I found a website but I am not sure if they will accept stuff from there....

Does anyone know if we have to have proof of health insurance by the app due date? Or just by the time we start? I dont have proof or health insurance yet because my job doesnt do enrollment until the end of the month.

According to the Castle Branch requirements, by the deadline of the program which is usually January 31 so if not by then, I'm not sure you're be compliant.

The program packet states it must be shown at time of first day after acceptance if not turned into castle branch. As long as you have proof by then you should be good.

Thanks for clarifying that!

I'm going to submit my application on Monday. I just want to make sure I am not missing anything, so here is a list of things I have in a 9x12 envelope:

Application

Statement of Student Responsibility

Hesi score printout

Official transcripts from DCCCD(not sure if I need that but just in case)

And on Castlebranch, I still have not met the requirements for flu shot and professional license. Are those two okay to be incomplete? Also, if yall feel comfortable talking about it, where is everyone at with their points? I think I'm at about 36 right now. I'm so nervous!!!!!

Sounds good to me! I’m still waiting to take my HESI on Wednesday before I apply so I’m not really sure where my points are at. I’m also wondering if they’ll take my pharmacology since it has a different course number now so it may be pointless for me to apply.

Pharmacology is not required, unless you are using it as a pre Requisite instead of gen psych. But Pharmacology will get you an extra 3 points if they accept yours. Did you take it at DCCCD? If not, see if you can substitute it, but that needs to be done before the application is submitted, I think. Or did you take HPRS instead of RNSG? If that is the case, I was told that they would consider accepting HPRS on an individual basis since they JUST changed it to RNSG recently.

I’m using it for the 3 points. I didn’t take it DCCCD and that’s why I’m worried about it counting because I was really counting on those 3 extra points. Yes I did take HPRS.

Has anyone turned in their applications yet? Deadline is January 31st!!! I'm nervous because I'm going to be pushing it but I'm determined to get everything turned in.

I haven't turned mine in yet either. You'll be okay. Just get it done. I'm nervous too. I cant wait to hear back and I haven't even submitted yet! ?

I haven’t applied yet either. I just took my HESI and now I’m just getting everything ready for castle branch. I plan on applying with 33 points.

I went to go submit my application to the El Centro Paramount building in Downtown Dallas, room 101. I submitted 3 pieces of paper in an envelope with my name and program that I am applying for. I submitted my application, student statement of responsibility, and Hesi score. I asked the lady if she could look over it and she said she could only tell me that those 3 items should be in there, she isn't allowed to check over it I guess. I asked about Castlebranch, and flu shot isn't due until after we are accepted/start school/ after the NEW flu shot comes out for 2020. I submitted the one from last year, 2019, and it was rejected. She said our apps wont be rejected for no flu shot. Seems like common sense but I didnt know. Hope this helps someone else not feel so lost...

My HESI score is 92.8, I am applying with 36 points. I'm really hoping this is competitive enough. Now it's just a waiting game.

Keep posting questions and helpful info, please! ?
