Fall 2010 - BMCC Nursing Program

Published

:anbd:[color=olive]i'm wondering if anyone applied to the nursing program for the fall 2010 at bmcc. has anyone received an acceptance call?

Hi Doris,

Thank you so much for responding to my message, I really appreciate it so much, I feel better now after viewing your thoughts about my situation, I think I know what to do next after giving me all this helpful advise, Goodluck to you, Godbless :)

Hi,

What are the 4 pre-clinical courses that they look at?

eng 101, psych 100, bio 425 (A&P1), math 104 (math for health sciences)

I have one more question to ask, please if anyone can clarify me with this because I'm a bit confused. The cut off grade to get into the clinicals, is it from the GPA of the 4 key courses? or the overall cumulative GPA?

HI Marcee,

I am currently in the program at BMCC and they look at the 4 pre clinical courses. as somone suggested earlier you can retake the the class in which you received a B. Your chances will be greater especially since you already have the 3 A's. The cutoff or last incoming group was I think 3.86 for the daytime and 3.78 for the night program.

Hi Jns77, thank you so much for that information. So how is everything going at bmcc? I mean for the nursing program. Is everything doing well for you?

Hi Safia,

I just finished the prereqs and will apply for the Spring 2010 evening program. I am also working full time. I did not take chem at BMCC but took both A&Ps, micro, psych, english and the math science. Don't be nervous with chem, just make sure you pass. What you need to concentrate is to get As in the first 4 prereq (eng1, AP1, psych1 and math). Goodluck!

Best Regards,

Dee

Thanks Dee :) Well so far I took Eng (A) Math (A-) and Psy (A)...so still have to take Chem and then A&P...I really hope to get A in those classes as well. I guess I am nervous because this Chem class is my first college level science class. My first college degree was in Business/Marketing and not much science was involved. Well school opens this weekend! Good Luck! Now that you're applying to the Spring 2010 evening program and just got done with your prereqs, will you be taking any classes in Fall 10 or are you finish with all classes and just waiting to be in the program? Also was A&P1 hard? Thanks again for all your advise :)

Hi Safia,

I've finished all my prereqs and just waiting to enter the program. I actually enjoyed AP1 eventhough it was a rush because I took it during summer. I constantly had to read everyday in order to catch up on the discussions. But my one advice before you take AP1 is to look for a good professor and go to RateMyProfessor.com. I had a horrible professor for microbio and a lot of negative reviews were said of that professor at that site. It was too late for me to change class.

Goodluck this fall!

Best regards,

Dee

Hey Dee,

I actually use ratemyprofessor all the time, they just listed the professors that will be teaching Chem 121 on the weekends yesterday, I looked up the professor and they got mixed reviews...more bad that good. The colleges takes forever to post the professor who will be teaching the class, I think they know if they post it early everyone will take the good teachers...and now it's too late for me to change as all the seats are gone for all the weekend classes. Well good luck to you and hope you get into the Spring 11 program...I am sure you will :)

I for one wish I knew about "ratemyprofessor.com" I found out after receiving my two B's that the students are picking teachers who give easy A's so they can get in the nursing program. It upsets me to know that I worked hard for my B and others had open book exams and take home quizzes, and yet they get to be nurses and I have to transfer school hoping to get into a nursing program somewhere.

Hey savahna

I just found out about it last semester and I was bummed myself when a class mate told me she has been using for a while but now that I know about it I use it all the time...but in my case it have not proven to be helpful just yet to choose my classes b/c the college post the prof names who will be teaching the course at the last minute and if wait till then it will not have any seats left...but it still helps to know what to expect from the teacher...are you currently at BMCC or transferred out already?

I'm still there I'm transferring in January: (
