Published

:anbd:[color=olive]i'm wondering if anyone applied to the nursing program for the fall 2010 at bmcc. has anyone received an acceptance call?

Hey deedee,

Thanks. Yeah my pre req GPA was 3.93 and my overall was 3.97.

Ahh, then you didn't have anything to worry about then ;). I was just wondering if they still apply just the prereq GPA for the evening. I've been hearing that they might apply the overall GPA instead for the Spring 2011 evening program, which is making me worry a lot. I will have months to chew on my nails...I have prereq GPA of 4.0 and overall GPA of 3.86.

deedee,

I dont think you should worry at all. Those are really good grades and my friend got in with an overall GPA of 3.43 with a 3.93 in the pre reqs. I think you will be just fine.

That's great news that your friend got in. It also eases my mind a bit. Thanks and congratulations again!

Hey Guys,

I got a call last night. I'm in. Yay..so excited. I was worried because my overall GPA is 3.53 and 3.93 on the pre reqs. Anyhow, congrats to all those that got in.

Hey,

I forgot to post when I got the call on Friday. But I am in!

My pre-clinical GPA is a 4.0, and my overall GPA is a 4.0. I still have to take Microbiology and Speech class during the program.

Congrats to everyone accepted! Good luck to everyone applying for the Spring 2010 semester.:yeah:

:yeah: Yay!! Congrats to everybody...I'm sure you'll have gotten the package the nursing advisor handed out, my question is, are they really picky about the uniform and in particular the nursing shoes? I've Googled nursing shoes and there are tons of stuff to chose from. Anybody have a clue as to what they're looking for?

Hi Guys,

BMCC only looks at the 4 preclinical courses for both day and Evening program, and if there's a tie between two students, they'll look at the overall Gpa. They usually have more seats for the day program (day program is split in to two programs-Day and Afternoon), whereas for evening only about 40 are reserved. Day seems to be more competitive because most people apply to the day, whereas in evening the GPA req'd is slightly lower because you need to document that you're working 35 hours weekly to apply. I wish you all best of luck since I too was in ur shoes before !!

btw. The dept sends out phone calls to people that get in and sends letters to the ppl that didn't (hopefully it wont be the case with any of u) Good Luck and its a great program, i just graduated last month:yeah: !!

Hey Bilis,

All I can tell you is stay on top of everything and take out plenty of time to read the textbook, as it is going to be a lot of material. Since you have the whole summer in between, Read as much as you can before. Another important advice I can give you is: STAY AWAY FROM NEGATIVE PEOPLE. You will encounter many, yes it is going to be hard, but it is also DOABLE. It is not impossible!! what I also found helpful during fundamentals was the book: Fundamental Success. It helps with critical thinking skills for beginner Nursing Students who are not used to that type of questions. If i think of anything else, ill surely post it here!

Good Luck :)

Thanks FutureRN19 for your input. I will try my hardest to keep up. I do have a busy schedule and a 3 year old to set me back, but I will keep your advise at hand. Again thanks and best of luck to you with the hiring process. ;)
