  1. @ Dee, bummer, will you be able to work around the schedule? Seems you work late. As far as the prof goes, he's pretty fair. All his tests are multiple choice, but again I stress the fact that you need to learn the concepts because the questions are not straight forward. In other words you have to apply the concepts to the sceneros given, can be very tricky. I attended class every day and sat in the front row (helps...no distractions). He was very understanding if you had a problem you needed addressed and tries to help as much as he can. I had a great experience. Bilis
  2. Hey ~xilostgirlxi, I would think it's the same, just the schedule hours and of course the professor that's instructing the course. The professor I had was wonderful. I enjoyed the class fully. Clinicals may be scary at first, but you learn a lot from them. I hope next semester will be as fulfilling as my first. I remember the anxiety I felt from the first moment I was told I was accepted, but believe me it goes by so fast so be ready to work. Bilis
  3. Hey ~xilostgirlxi, Thanks, to you as well for the acceptance to the program. The blood test you have to get is for the titers regarding the immunity of the vaccines you've had I don't think is necessarily a drug test. When you go to orientation you will meet your professor and will orient you to what they expect. What program are you on? Eve. or day? Bilis
  4. Hi xilostgirlxi, We did our clinical practices at Bellevue Hospital, Mary Manning Walsh, and Woodhull Medical Center. As far as a drug screen, I don't recall. We had to get a physical from your doctor and make sure your vaccinations are current. I'm thinking that if you have an Rx for a medication, I don't see that to be a problem. Take care of all the requirements (physical, vaccine records, and the liability insurance) and be prepared for the math test. Hope this helps. Best regards, Bilis
  5. Hey Dee, I did well surprisingly. I'm on the evening program and had a good semester. A lot of new things, but if you keep up with the material (a lot of it) you'll do fine. I'll admit, it's not an easy course, but I'm sure you've heard that already. Read, watch the videos, do the online stuff, and try to understand the concepts as they are not straight forward on the tests. The math is basically what you'd seen already from Mat 104. You get 10 questions and you have to get 8 right to pass. Oh and no calculator so make sure you brush up on your arithmetic skills. Best of luck, Bilis
  6. Congrats Dee , I hope you have a wonderful semester. I'm sure you will do fine on your first semester of Nursing. Would you know what textbooks are on the requirement list, Best regards, Bilis
  7. Hawkins11377, Congrats on the acceptance and the best of luck to you. Bilis
  8. Thanks FutureRN19 for your input. I will try my hardest to keep up. I do have a busy schedule and a 3 year old to set me back, but I will keep your advise at hand. Again thanks and best of luck to you with the hiring process. Bilis
  9. Congrats.. FutureRN19, that's a great accomplishment. Do you have any words of wisdom for us just beginning the program? Your insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bilis
  10. Yay!! Congrats to everybody...I'm sure you'll have gotten the package the nursing advisor handed out, my question is, are they really picky about the uniform and in particular the nursing shoes? I've Googled nursing shoes and there are tons of stuff to chose from. Anybody have a clue as to what they're looking for?
  11. Hey Guys, I got a call last night. I'm in. Yay..so excited. I was worried because my overall GPA is 3.53 and 3.93 on the pre reqs. Anyhow, congrats to all those that got in.
  12. OMG!!! totally blown away, seems every semester it gets more and more rigid. Did any of you guys applied (or will apply) to other nursing programs just in case?
  13. @dee - good luck to you! i'm sure you've done your homework and have all the requirements by now. it's a shame it takes a while to understand the ropes. i'm awaiting response from my application and chewing off my finger nails. anyhow, will let you know if i'm in or out. take care. @nycwonder1 - i hear you...it's nerve wrecking. i also applied for the evening/weekend program. i hope and crossing my fingers i get accepted as this program is very competitive. good luck to you. @smr3 - thanks for the info. so it's the end of the week and no phone call yet? i'm exited and worried all at the same time. hopefully i do get in. good luck to you.
  14. :anbd:[color=olive]i'm wondering if anyone applied to the nursing program for the fall 2010 at bmcc. has anyone received an acceptance call?
  15. Hi Dee, Thanks for the response, you're all drenched in information (gotta be prepared, right?) You know, I wouldn't of thought of that (proof of employment), and again with my luck I would have to make an additional trip with all these requirements at hand. I've also read other posts and would proof of citizenship be a requirement also? Not that it's a problem, but I guess you need to carry some sort of proof right? Thanks again for the encouragement, I hope to get in. Best regards, Bilis
